I ask this because mine is taking really long, but it may just be normal. My update has been going on for 35minutes and it is only at 40%! Thats only the online part, I still have to install.
I have no idea how long it took. I started it, had a shower, and when I was done it had finished downloading. I wish it installed automatically instead of waiting for me to agree.
what's the point of this update anyways? its been like 5 minutes and all i got was 4 percent...its probably cus i get 33% signal in my room (its on the third floor)

These updates are released when there ready and there is no real time line for them. As for a slow connection then you may want to download the firmware on a PC from the Sony web site and load it on a flash drive. Then use the flash drive to install it on the PS3. The download seems to go faster this way when you have a weak connection.
Mine took 5 minutes. I was watching some movies and I decided to check the J-store, when I was asked for the update. So I went back to my us store and did it, to my surprise the file took only 5-10 minutes to download, then I had to install it. Funny thing is that I got a weird message to foramt the disk, did that but nothing weird happened, all my files were still there :P
