why not? the ps3 is a wonderful machine, also by then the blu-ray would be at the same price and standard as dvd is today, so the production cost will be very little compared on how they are today.
After seeing how the PS2's lifespan turned out and how this thing is as close to future proof as possible it'll last well into the next decade. Once the devs get more familiar with programming with it we'll start seeing much better games just like what happened with the PS2.
acually, i was whaching a confrence and they said that the 360 and the ps3 are probebly going to stand for about how long hdtv's are going to stand, which could be 15-20years! this is because ps3 is already taking HighDef to its full petential, and thats as far as it goes for now

I just pushed 2010-2011 because i'm pissed, almost every PS3 games has installs, when are they going to stop this??!?! Is the laser THAT weak?!?! Man, that's not what i wanted a console with a hard drive, i wanted to pay online games, not fill it with forced installs
This is my first complain about PS3, i guess everyone has to go through bad times with a PS3....
from a technichal point of view the PS3 capabilitis is a way ahead the other 2 consoles so i think even the MS and nintindo released their new consoles, the PS3 will have all the attention at this time. so i think PS3 will continue 4 at least 5 more years, however wz it is current situation it needs the support and the faith of the japanese games companies which let the PS3 down by giving most of the exculsives 2 x360
Seeing how the PS1 was in production for more than 10 years and the PS2 is in its 9th year (I think), and the fact that games have not tapped the full potential of the PS3's hardware, I'd say the PS3 will be around for quite some time (at least 10 years). So I'd say 2014-2016 before production ends and maybe a new console around 2013-2014.
