thats not even a thing.

Can you read? LEt me break it down for you because you obviously don't understand what's going on with current game systems.
The american ps3 comes with a ps2 built in it, the emotion engine. SO when you playstation 2 game it renders it out liek it's a ps2 running the game, it's a combo of the EE chip and software. The euro PS3 doesn't have the EE chip and handles it all through software to emulate the ps2 environment when rendering(yes a game is rendered then output to your tv).
The 360(and the reason why not all games are BC) will actually render the games for the 360. It doesn't simulate the xbox render enviroment(like the ps3 does for the ps2) it actually renders it's output at 720p or higher. It doesn't simulate the xbox and then stretch a 480p imae up to 720p or 1080p, so in essence it re-renders it a new resolution.
So I prolly lost most of the dullards on this board, but that's the diffece between the 2.
but does it upscale dvd's, I'm just wondering.
