If you have a kid on the way, I recommend you spend your money on more important things than video games... Just sayin...

exactly what i was going to say! But to answer your question, I own both and love both consoles, both have their own unique characteristics that make them great, the decision is yours. Just like the other guy said though, if you have a kid on the way, you may want to hold off on a major purchase

Hey guys!! I have kids and I play games.  I say games are a worthy purchase for any father or father to be. Trust me as much as we have to stay at home it's worth the purchase. Only if you can afford it though.

I own both, and it makes me happy inside knowing that I am an owner of two powerful forms of entertainment at home...however, I will admit that after Resistance and Motorstorm, there is nothing for me coming up anytime soon since I have played all the other games out for the PS3 on the 360 already. My next PS3 game purchase will probably be Ninja Gaiden. So unless there are more games that interest you than those two, I'd hold off a little bit. $600+ is quite an investment...maybe you should save the money for diapers. With that said, congratulations on the baby.

As an owner of both with two kids....:D....

I also got the ps3 due to an interest in bluray movies and figured that I could spend less on the 20gb ps3 than a stand a lone bluray player and also get to play the games and enjoy the other features.

So far I love both units for different reasons and my 360 currently does get more play with the likes of Oblivion, Crackdown, Guitar Hero 2, Gears, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, the live arcade, etc, etc, etc. I love live and all its features and also use it heavily for just jammin tunes using my zune and using what I call trip-o-vision :D I am on my second 360 now, just had to swap my launch system out a few weeks ago, so from a hardware standpoint I am starting to question the 360, and my new one has already started to make a strange sound when I turn it on. Will probably upgrade to the elite when it comes out.

Once more games come out the PS3 will get more use, but I do use it a lot as it is for movies, Motorstorm and Resistance. From a hardware standpoint I like the ps3 a lot more, much sleeker looking (especially when standing vertically, I call it the tower of power), HD movie on disc right out of the box, uncompressed PCM out of the box, HDMI 1.3 out of the box. It runs real smooth, is dead quiet and has yet to freeze up or crash on me once.  Its truly a wonderful piece of hardware when you really take stock of what it can do for you. Many people complain about the price, but I found the $499 20gb to be more than reasonable for what you get.

I look forward to many years of entertainment out of both.
