I do, but only for certain games. For example Dead space, im obsessed with getting 100% of the trophies, but most other games I own I don't really care. Anyone else care about the amount of trophies they get?
When SSHD got the trophy patch, i downloaded the game, just to see how well the trophy system was implemented, then uncharted got patched, and i gave that a good run, but never went so far as to get the platinum. so I sorta picked up on the hype to begin with, but now i don't really care all that much.
Trophies are only for the hardcore of the hardcore. Trophies are useless in my opinion. Everybody has their say in this but from a non-hardcore perspective....useless.
i cant get enough of trophies. i have (i think) between 500 and 550 trophies atm. i think they were a great addition to playstation
recently i baught dead space and played it through within a day then didnt play it again for a week or two. then realising i spent a good £35 on that game and i might aswell make it worth while, so i've been playing it pretty solidly and am now 2 trophies away from 100%
trophies give excelent replay value and fair enough if you dont care for them, but paying £40 for a game you are only going to play once is not very smart.
This lack of trophy enthusiasm I think is a plus for the PS3; After killing my achievement lust on 360 ( at 45000+) I feel finally as "free" as I once was.
There was a time where I refused to play certain games (which I may have liked) simply because I deemed the achievement list "frustrating" or the full 1000 unattainable. I went so far at one point into obsession that I removed friends on the lone basis that they had an achievement I didn't!
Trophy support, like the achievement system, instills in the game community a sort of caste system. (A gamercard in this sense is a lot like a wallet). This, I think, is bad news.
For the most part, I get what trophies I get when I play a game. I usually don't bother checking what they are, how to get them and hunt them down. Two exceptions: 1. Resistance 2: I have collected all but one "campaign" trophy. 2. Gran Turismo 5: I will likely try to collect all throphies here...
A tro ho? LOL that's a new one to me. Trophies are ok but I don't go out of my way to get them. If i do get them good for me but I don't go out of my way to obtain trophies.
well i wouldn't consider myself a trophy wh*re, the reason why i go back to get trophies because of the replay value. But if i am struggling with a trophy, i'm not going to waste my day to get it.
I like the way they look. They also give me a reason to replay again. You may say, If a game needs trophies to be replayed then that game shouldnt be played at all but damnit it makes you remember why you even bought the damn game in the first place (GTA4)

To be honest initially I had the "meh" (Simpsons fans) factor however, I have to say that now I have found myself going into games that I have beat or got so far in and started over in order to get the Trophys. I know some say "oh I dont care" or "I can care less" however, it is a cool visual when I'm comparing my trophys to my friends and actually gives a replayability factor to the games. I wont say that I am a Tro Ho (yet) but I can see how anyone could fall into that catagory, how many people (MGS4 fans) do you think would just love (replay to get) if Kojima got those put into MGS4?
I think trophies are deffinately a good thing, they add replay value and a lot of gamers like to have them. For those who don't care about them, well they'll just continue not to care while it pleases the ones who do care, so it's a win, win. Personally, I like the trophies, they are fun to get and I'll try and get them sometimes but I'm not obsessed with them. To me it's just if they are there you midaswell try and get them for fun but if they are annoying or frustrating well I don't usually go out of my way unless I'm bored or something. The best thing for it, like i said before, is the replay value it adds to games.
