the time each packet takes depends on what computations are being done, there are hundreds of experiments going on, some take a couple hours, some can take a month...
I started mine last night around 2:30 am EST left it run for an hour then this morning at 11:00 am EST I started it up again I'm currently at 94% and it will be finished at 4:04 pm EST.
It took me about 9 hours to finish one. I have 6 more hours to finish the 2nd one. Also last night there were hardly any protein folders in Europe, but now there's so many.Â
My first one will probably take a few months. I dont have my PS3 on when I dont use it. I prefer not to waste energy. We have enough problems with global warming already.
Your PS3 will not emit smog or CO2 into the atmosphere. Your PS3 will not cause global warming...or cancer. About the worst thing that will happen is your electric bill will go up. But, hey. At least you've got some kind of an incentive. Assuming you ever contract cancer, I bet you'll leave your PS3 on day in and day out. Just kidding, but you know what I mean.
