I have one. It legitimately saved my ass the other day because I was playing Uncharted 2 online with some friends and my Bluetooth headset died. I jumped up, plugged it into charge, plugged in my PS Eye, and used it as my standing mic for the rest of the night. It has more uses than just a camera you know. It has 4 tiny microphones on it.8)
i dont have one :?

Well, if you don't have a mic and were thinking of getting one, just get a PS Eye for now. It's useful for a few games, video chat, taking pics, recording video clips, and using it as a mic.
As far as the mic thing goes though, use it as a temporary replacement. There's no substitute for having a good Bluetooth (or USB) headset where there's a mic in front of your face and teammates in your ear, not coming through your TV speakers.
It's fine to use it as a mic in games if you need to, just don't be the asshat bumping music in the background or with your TV turned up too loud.
Capiche?;)
i hope more games come out with it ..like party games or w.e
i feel that the ps3 lacks party games, i know its not meant for it but you know
and what is eye pet

I didn't know. Sounds like it may have uses ouside of gaming in general too.
So I can just buy the PS Eye instead of a mic? Good because all the Bluetooth headsets I've used get pretty uncomfortable after like 15 minutesI have one. This is the aforementioned Eyepet:

It definitely aims to be kid / casual friendly, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm interested in it, and I definitely consider myself to be more of the hardcore persuasion rather than the casual.
i have one i used it a bit when it came out with eye of judgment but haven't used it much at all for a long time. every once in a while if im to lazy to find my bluetooth headset ill use the mic on the camera but other then that i haven't really used it in a long time. the mics good but overly sensitive so it picks up everything, not the best mic to use for multiplayer but it gets the job done.

looks pretty cool but i have a feeling it'll get boring really fast ;S
I hope they make a version where you can train your pet to fight and battle them online

You can. The only cause for concern would be making sure your TV isn't uber loud and / or is a decent distance from your mic. Granted, the mic only faces one direction (hopefully towards YOU), but it still has the 4 mics to be more omnidirectional. Great for recording video that automatically includes some left to right panning, bad for playing online and picking up room noise. Granted I've played using it and played with people that say they're using it and it seems to work fine. I've also heard cases where someone's mic was spamming the channel with static. Sure, a quick mute can fix that. But if they're on your team with a mic, you might wanna talk to them. :P
Short answer, yes it works. But since it works as a room mic it would be a good idea to adjust your input level to accommodate background noise. It wouldn't hurt to test it out playing online with friends first to ask them how it sounds. Still, nothing is as good as a dedicated mic where you can clearly hear other players, rather than making game adjustments or sorting their voices out from game sounds.
As for your discomfort with Bluetooth, there are many 3rd party ones that are good. Arguably the Sony brand one that comes with SOCOM is the best. I found them uncomfortable the first few wears as well to where my ear would hurt. After a few more times, fits like a glove and I barely notice it's there. And this is after HOURS of gameplay. I say give the Bluetooth another shot, see if it breaks in on you. If that doesn't work look into a USB one down the road.
Something like this perhaps:

A cheapy one for $20 that's the equivalent of the one that comes with the 360.

An example of one of the higher priced but nicer, and more comfortable ones.
Just shop around. For comfort purposes if Bluetooth doesn't work out, then USB will suit your needs. Until then, the Eye should do the job well enough. Better a mic that's a potentially a little noisy than no mic at all.
I used to have a eye toy, it sortah worked but i didnt know what to do with it so i sold it 2 a friend.
Might get 1 when the motion controller is released.
I have 1 :)
i use it for LittleBigPlanet, its good to always own one :D

The first time I played with someone online on LittleBigPlanet I got momentarily weirded out when they starting talking. They were using the Eye, and it sounded fine and all.
I just totally forgot about the mouth mapping. Effin' WEIRD man. :P
