if counting the hdtv my parents got on the eve of the MGS4 release date then the answer is A LOT. If not then I think around $1000, which includes a dual shock3, the console itself, a 100 bucks hard drive, and a stack of games worth totalling about a little above the cost of the console itself.
1. 2000$ HDTV (yes i bought it just for gaming but i use it in other ways tv/bluray)
2. over 600$ in games
3. 70$ HDMI cable
4. 599$ launch 60gb PS3
5. 60$ bluetooth headset
So i've spent over 3,329$ on my ps3... and its worth every penny :)
Oh I forgot about the four controllers Ive had to purchase as the analog sticks keep breaking (left stick getting stuck in the up position from COD4 and Tiger Woods) so add 220$ to that total.. :?
I've spent approximately $1367.74 CDN. Not bad considering I have a 60gb PS3 bought within a year of launch, 12 games, PS eye, extra controller, HDMI cable and some downloadable content from the playstation store. I guess you could add an HDTV for PS3 to, but it's fun with Wii too.
I guess I'll just round up to about $1200 total including the tax. Not bad for almost two years worth of solid entertainment plus Blu-Ray capabilities plus PS2 and PS1 backwards compatibility since my PS2 is broken. I doubt any other console can match that in terms of bang for your buck.
spent over 1200. i wish i never bought mine (i mean i would still hope to own one down the line). but sony ripped me off. i bought it on launch, had to play crappy games for like 2 yrs, while sony made false promises every month. then they decide they made another mistake with the sixaxis n i had to spend money to upgrade, and then finally when the first really great game comes out, mgs4, my ps3 freezes in the middle of the first part of the game. turns out my ps3s laser is defected and sony made me pay them more money to get it fixed. now im too busy trying to learn medical micro, biochem n physio to even turn on my ps3. what a friggin waste. i hate nintendo and microsoft, but now i could possibly hate sony as much, i was loyal to them and they screwed me. if i bought a ps3 now i could get a new n better one that actually works for half the price with a lot of games that r actually good. and where is the HOME anyway.
Ps3 at $400. 19 purchased games, which i figure out to about $750 because of some older, and used titles. DS3 for $45. A 26" samsung HDTV that I bought solely for the purpose of plaing PS3 on, $500. 160 gb HD for around $80. And a failed 20 dollar intercooler I gave to a thrift store after I realized what pointless crap it was. About 1800 right there, and if you figure in all the tax on all the purchases, just a wild guess, but somewhere around 2 grand give or take 50 bucks.... :|
