I will be purchasing a used 60gb PS3 (CECHA01) soon and was wondering if I have anything to fear in particular?

YLOD(Yellow light of death) might be a big thing to fear especially with it being used and a 60 gig. Other than that it just depends on where and who you buy it from. Make sure the person has good info about them.

My 60gb was pre-owned & I've had it for a year now, using it nearly every day. It's awesome. Maybe I've been lucky up to now though because there have been a lot of reports on that version crapping out. Take good care of it & you can't hurt your chances. Also back up your save data just in case.

Yeah I've heard about a few more units crapping out when a large number of people were playing Batman:AA on the 60GB.

The one I'm looking at is a refurbished 60 GB PS3 from a reputable seller on ebay so I'm hoping I'm not the unfortunate one to get a bad system.

I guess I should look for a backward compatible 80 GB one as well just incase I see a good deal.

Lol @ the guy recommending a 360. I respect the 360's games but I have zero respect for the hardware!

I know but I actually am one of the few who likes FULL backward compatibility so I have no choice. I've had a fat ps2 brand new since 2001 and it hasn't crapped out on me so maybe used and a couple years old ps3 will do just as well :)

i bought a used 80 gb ps3 for 300 bucks back in january. it broke down near the end of march. no warranty. buying used electronics is a terrible idea. that is my oppinion now anyways. with a brand new one you get a year warranty and that guarantees you that it will survive a year while used electronics you have no warranty, and when it goes... it can cost a lot to fix it, and in the end it would just be cheaper to buy a new one.

I Bought my 80GB Ps3 Used, for 315 US and 350 Canadian. I have owned it for almost 2 Months, and have Not Experienced any Problems.

If your going to Buy a Used Ps3, Make sure Its in Good Condition, and get a Warranty just In case.

Well I'm going with a refurbished fully checked out unit and yeah I will invest in a new warrenty as well. I'm not worried though. Anything that is more reliable than the ps2 sounds good to me!
