If you have weak wireless signal that is spotty and/or laggy, then this is for you.

Tomato Firmware for your router.

Compatability

Linksys WRT54G v1-v4, WRT54GS v1-v4, WRT54GL v1.x, WRTSL54GS (no USB support)

Buffalo WHR-G54S, WHR-HP-G54, WZR-G54, WBR2-G54, WBR-G54, WZR-HP-G54, WZR-RS-G54, WZR-RS-G54HP, WVR-G54-NF, WHR2-A54-G54, WHR3-AG54

Asus WL500G Premium (no USB support), WL500GE

Sparklan WX6615GT, Fuji RT390W, Microsoft MN-700

This will not work on Linksys WRT54G/GS v5 or newer WRT54G/GS routers.

Download:

Tomato_1_14.7z

Open the readme.htm file for further instructions to install the firmware

Once the firmware is installed, go to your IP address (mine is http://192.168.1.1)

On the sidebar, navigate to Advanced > Wireless

Then find where it says Transmit Power. Just double that value (assuming its at or near the default 42mW output).

It can technically go up to 251mW, but then your router would probably get really hot and its lifespan would be threatened.

So yeah. Now your wireless signal is boosted. No need to change anything on your PS3 if it was able to connect in the first place.

Please note that wifi transmissions are set at a point for a reason, to match local laws for communications and safty, messing with it is asking for trouble.

I really doubt that any cop's job is to roam the streets testing the wireless signal strength.

... I don't think so.

P.S. My wireless signal (I checked after posting) went from 67%-80% to 97%-100%. Theoretically, it could boost from 20% or so to 100%, but like I (and the rest of the internet) said, your router would be cookin'.

You know everything!

It also makes it a bit easier for wandering hackers in their vans.

I have a DIR 655 with this thing stock at full signal people can practically see me for a couple of blocks. I am not sure about any of the WRT routers out but are they that poor on signal strength? Instead of shortening the length of your routers life, this is a good alternative,
