Hi, I bought Chrono Cross on the PSN and I started playing it on my PS3 and it looks terrible... It looks like Transformers : Cubes Wars... How can I make it look better? I would like it to be fullscreen too. I know it will still look terrible with any changes but please help me because now it looks worse than playing on a ps1 and a standard tv... Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Flower

since its a PS1 game, the graphics are supposed to look terrible compared to current gen games so there is no way to improve the graphics. as for the fullscreen thing, sometimes there is a option for that in the games option menu but other than that, there isn't a way to make it fullscreen

There is not really much you can do to improve the graphics on Playstation 1 games. Sorry but that is just the way it is. Even with the PS2 & early PS3 with the Emotion chip. It smooth out the "jaggies" just a little. So your HDTV is not going to make 32-bit first generation playstation 1 games look better in HD.

I kinda hoped Sony would have remaked PSone games in HD rather than Playstation 2 games. The original twisted metal & TM2 world tour could use an HD remakeover. But no HDTV is going to make old videogames look any better than there originally were.

HDTV sometimes actually make it worse. a plain old SD TV is the best way to play old videogames.

Honestly the best thing you can do is play on a SD CRT television - if possible. Otherwise they are going to look crap being blown up on an HDTV.

Does your tv have a option to decrease the screen size? If so do it. If the screen is to big, it's like those older games get distorted.

I play non hd games on my 32" sony bravia all the time. Most older games don't support widescreen so you need to ajust your tv to 4:3 ratio. If not the image will stretch. Also it's best to play games on the original system say PS1 games on a PS1. Get a S-Video cable for playing older systems.

The difference between S-Video and A/V cables is like night and day on LCD tvs. It makes a huge diffence with non hd systems. S-Video also gets rid of or lessens the jaggies. It also makes the image a lot brighter.

Obviously, make sure you have your resolution set to 1080p and 720p only. Well in this case it doesn't matter, but just for PS3 games anyways. The PS3 won't downscale PS1 games so you could leave it at just 1080p. If you don't have that option then leave it on 720p. While you're playing the PS1 game and hit the PS button you can change the display settings of the PS1 game, like smooth it out and get rid of the black bars. I find by doing this the PS1 games look better on my HDTV than they originally did on a CRTV. People may think it looks worse because they haven't played those games in years and remember it looking better.

There's not much you can do to improve graphics on a PS1 game.

Play it on a smaller tv or lower your expectations.

Thats just complete wrong, HDTV's arent the problem, its the LCD/LED and Plasma technology.

Play on a HD or SD CRT and it'll be fine.

If you think there aren't any HD CRT's, take a look at the Sony Wega 36" released in 2000, I use it as a guest bedroom TV still.

Thanks for the answers, I switch back my ps3 to SD and I put my HDTV on 4:3 ratio and it looks better but not that much. I think I just forgot how bad the PS1 graphics were!!! I will try to display on a smaller screen size with my HDTV. Thanks a lot! Anyway, this game is all about other things than graphics!
