I want to format my computer harddrive, so I need to clear out the junk and shove everything to my harddrive on the PS3. Problem is, after copying all my essential movie, picture and music files, I still have tons of other files not in those formats that cannot be copied over. Does anyone know how to force the PS3 into copying the other files?

I read somewhere that you can just type rename a document so instead of .doc its .mp4 and the PS3 is "tricked" into accepting it. Does this actually work, and can I bring it out of it's sorry state later on and change it back?

yes you can rename a file to mp4 or avi or something and it fools the ps3, the best thing is to get an external drive and move everything there, becouse is to much to do if you want to move stuff on ps3, or take the ps3 hdd and connect it to the computer and than move the files
