How well does the original Metal Gear Solid hold up?

How well would a copy of the PS1 game Metal Gear Solid hold up on the PS3? Does it look worse, lag or have framerate problems? I've never played MGS but I love MGS2 and MGS3 and have played them to death so I was wondering if I should get the first one. Has Sony/Konami announced the possibilty of releasing a PSN version?

I don't see why it would look any worse.

As of right now there's no plans to release it on the PSN, but it's possible.

I still have my original MGS from 1998 with the shiny crimson logo on white background on the front cover...maybe I'll play it later and let you know the details of how it's running.
