I hear / read the lag / hiccups throughout the game are frequent and annoying. Is the game playable or what? Most critics give it around a 9, but talk about load times and lags? What's the deal from a gamer's perspective, thanks.

STAND DOWN!!! I tried, but I kept falling up!

Many people here say this game is great. I bought it based on those testimonies. I wish I hadn't. The game suffers frame rate issues in all of the Half Life 2 games, it only gets worse the newer the episode. Then there is the loading times, it takes around 40 seconds from when you first load your game until you can actually play it, and when you are playing it the game (Half Life 2s) will just stop and start loading for 7 to 10 seconds as you walk around. LAME! The Orange Box is the worst purchase I've made for the PS3. If you've got a chance to play it on PC do that. Or you could just listen to all of the people below me flame me for thinking that this game isn't worthy of the PS3. ;)

Well you get Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, TF2.

So thats a lot of gameplay. I got mine for 40$ and its great.

I love it, Team Fortress 2 is awesome and really enjoyable, Half Life is one of the games that haves more fans in the world, so there you go on that side, the game had some issues that are now fixed because of a patch i think, i haven't seen anything weird though, i heard some people that did but anyways, i think it's a worth buy if you like original games, rent it first if you're not sure.

some other people don't like it, such as CellAnimation.

I honestly didn't notice much framerate difficulties, but I did get bored with Half Life 2. I hear it's great and all that, but it just seems dated. Portal and Team Fortress are awesome, though. Those are worth the price of admission.

Don't get me wrong, I really think The Orange Box is great value... on PC. I think the PS3 version is garbage.

It does have frame rate issues in some spots, especially in episode two, and the loading is pretty heinous. But if a PS3 is all you have for gaming, I think it's a perfectly playable conversion for all the single player games. I heard TF2 was kinda rough, though. But my overall experience was very enjoyable. Really charming games, great atmosphere and characters, from Alyx to GlaDOS.

I havent played the PS3 version, but the game is well worth the money. Half Life 2 and the 2 episodes are great, as Portal is just awesome.

I have the Xbox 360 version. No lags, framerate issues, or hiccups. Perfect.
