the online play is sufficant.
ive only played warhawk but i can look at my friends list and see who is on (no one ever is considering i have 2 names on my list)
then i can join from a list of 100s of servers. ive seen very little lag, even when warhawk was buggy (is still? people say its fixed but who knows).
ok this is what keeping me on the verge of buying a ps3.....i have a 360 and i love the online play yet i want a ps3 and there are a bunch of games I'm dieing to play on it, but since ive expireicve on-line play its change my gaming life, so i ask i know its not as depth as the 360 but are there many people online? do people use Mich's since you have to buy them? i hate online play with no mic!!!!skeeter1255
I felt the same way. I had so many friends on Xbox Live and I just didn't want to move on to a new console. Eventually I bought a PlayStation 3 and now I only play on Xbox Live periodically. It's not as good as Xbox Live but then again it is free. There are always people online and there always will be. Not everyone uses microphones but I've noticed an increase since Warhawk came out with the Bluetooth headset.
It works. It's free. No complaints.
The one area where it doesn't touch Xbox Live is the ease of use of the buddy list. It is so easy to find your friends and get into games with them on Xbox Live. On PSN...that's a whole different story. Each game has something different.
Either way, I'm happy with PSN. My online experiences have consisted of many hours of Warhawk and handful of hours on Resistance and Fight Night servers. I am extremely impressed with Warhawk and Resistance in particular. These games work every bit as well as Xbox Live AND it's free. Warhawk allows up to 32 players and I have NEVER encountered lag. EXCELLENT!
Resistance is also remarkablely quick and efficient to get into a game.
EA games...well...it's hit and miss...
If you play a lot of sports games, I'd stick to Xbox for them if possible.
PS3 online continues to get better and better. I'm perfectly happy with the free price tag too.
Pros:
+ No subscription charge
+ Dedicated Servers!!!!!!!! (You have to pay for Live and you don't get these... WTF!?!?)
+ Budding Store which is starting to get some really good content
+ Nearly Universal buddy list (unless you count EA's games)
Cons:
- Some game islanding still exists (games online elements are seperated from others)
- PSN server problems still exist (at least for me)
- Not a ton of games to play currently
