lol i've noticed people keep shortening the hours, first it was like 10, then 8, then 7, now 6 and a half?
i'd only judge it myself if i played it, im not gonna get it because i dont like button mashers, but even if it was 7-8 hours, thats not bad, yea its not long like san andreas or something, MGS2 i beat in like 7 hours after i already knew everything about the game, the first time you play through it its gonna be a lot longer then that, and MGS2 was a pretty decent length for me, so i dont know why people complain
i think everyone's just been spoiled by san andreas and oblivion or something
I had all weekend to beat the game and played it exactly how I would if I had purchased the game on my own. I didn't want it to be six hours--I wanted it to keep going, I was having a great time. Heck, it was only that long because I fought the last boss for like 45 minutes.AaronThomas
Dammit, when did we start getting mods and people from the gamespot crew start jumping on these threads?

Its a topic to discuss. Its not how long it is, but how good it is. Of course, you can finish many games in 6 hours. Heck, I finished once FF VII on 12, and thats the most reknowned RPG at the moment (not my favorite).
Of course you can finish the game in six hours. But, how much did you find about the game? Im not talking about getting 100%, thats something that people like me do for some games (In my case, the ones I like). How many combos did you get on your first playtrough? Did you master all the stuff, or checked some of the coolest combos? I know that in DMC3 my first playtrough, though amazing, it showed me nothing of the game, I barely used something different than Rebellion. Many of the sweet combos in DMC 3 are things you learn to use on your second or third or more playtroughs.
The same happens with games like this. Yes, the story is short, yes the game is finished shortly, yet to learn the cool stuff you get some more hours. I still have to get it, and Im not looking for it at the moment, in x-mas I may get it though.
Gears also had a co-op mode and online play.
I unlocked most everything, except some of the last few pieces of artwork. Some people will get some replay value out of playing it again, but there's not a whole lot to be gained by doing so. I personally wouldn't drop $60 on it, but I'm picky about what I spend my money on. I'd totally rent the game and have an awesome time though.

Would you want to replay it? Any extra content on the second run except those making of videos?

Bankai!!!
Oh...Heavenly Sword....
Shoot! This is one of PS3's best right now. Forget the gripes!

Well it's not a problem for me as I've done trade out's these past few games.
Traded Rainbow Six Vegas for RR7
Traded and paid the difference with Ninja Gaiden Sigma for LAIR (which is a good game in my opinion)
Beat LAIR and plan on trading it in for Heavenly Sword, pay the difference.
Note: Please don't bring judgement on me for playing and enjoying LAIR *Waits for big rod of "Going to whupyaAss" to start hammering on my head*

Man how could you trade in Rainbow Six!Yeah, if you're trading in some games for it it's not such a bad deal. EB's trade-in values make me cry though so I try not to think about that. :)AaronThomas
Thanks, it's cool to see a gamespot staff member on the forums for discussion. What you guys should do is have an asigned fanboy per console ( PS3 Fanboy, 360 Fanboy, etc.) that pops in the forums often to lay down their opinions. It's great to hear ya'll liked Heavenly sword despite it being short.
Anyway, jackle2071, I've mentioned this before on other threads. I just didn't like Graw 2 nor Rainbow 6 Vegas for PS3, I know the Gamespot staff liked it and so did alot of others but It's just not my type of games.Same thing can be saidthat a few people didn't like LAIR, I did though. Anyway, no sweat, I do trade ins all the time unless it's:
1) A first Person shooter, especially if I really liked it (The Darkness, Resistance)
2) Game has huge replay value (Ridge Racer 7, Warhawk)
3) Huge exploration... ie adventure games (Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank Future)
4) Games that are somewhat like watching/playing a movie (Stranglehold: CEand Heavenly Sword)
Can't wait to get Heavenly Sword this Wednesday!
i could see 12-15 but 6 1/2 thats almost like what stranglhold is bringing what is that all about i am paying 10$hr ifi buy this game basically just dont understand the length, y so short especially for a single player only game!KurupSoldr
It's a superb rental. That's what it is. That's all it is. Rent it and get the experience, then move on.

Another smart man. It's about value. If a dev knows their game is only going to last a dedicated player a single afternoon, they need to be about the business of adding in things that will keep a gamer coming back at least 4 more times.
Many games resolve that by way of easter eggs + fun gameplay. others resolve it by multiplayer components. others still by different modes of play.
This game has a problem, in that it really isn't doing any of those things.
They failed at that. That's why it's a rent, IMO.

How much disposable income do you guys have that you are (not just willing, but happy) to spend $70 on 6 hours of entertainment? Rent it, play through twice or three time and give $60 to charity or something.
$70? Then $60?I think for some people, namely the ones who play games for a few seconds at a time, will problably won't find an issue with the length of the game, but correct me if i'm worng about the length of the checkpoints and saves though (I obviously don't know how long the length is of checkpoints), hopefully, there more to say God of War.rctyke
Sorry, I mean a few minutes!

I'm not saying go run out and buy heavenly sword, but you act as though $60 is so much money to pay for an awesomely fun ~6 hours. It all comes down to how you'd rather spend your time. Most "Gamers" would rather spend their time with a great game than go out and get hammered.
At least, thats my perception :P
Ico was around the same length.
It's still great game isn't it?
TriangleHard
ICO was also pure gameplay, HS is not.

Ico was also about running around mindlessly because you didn't know what to do.
I love the game, but half of the time I wasted in that game because I simply didn't know what I was doing nor where I needed to go.
Also it's not like Ico didn't have cut scenes.
i passed gow somewhere around that time, and all of the mgs games, and dmc... i don't mindRakuho
theres almost 6 hours of cutscenes in the mgs'
I was waiting for the GameSpot review and since they rate it as GREAT I've gone ahead and ordered a copy on import (I'm in Australia). It may be short but as long as it is a great ride I'm happy.guyhunter
I agree! Once you finish it, you can merely trade it in and get something else. It's what I do all the time to short games.
[QUOTE="AsadMahdi59"]if played gow1 and gow2 throught several times and enjoyed myself would i enjoy replaying this several times aswell?email2003
Yeah but GoW 1 & 2 were clocked at around 20-25 HRS of gameplay.
lol u are joking right? i finished GOW 1 in about 10hours and 12hours for GOW2 my first time playing the game on normal, an average gamer should finish those games in about 12-15hours tops.
HS is shorter but not by much, i enjoyed replaying GOW1 & 2, I m sure it will be the same for HS.

well taht 20-25 hr gameplay is probably number given by developers.
Heavenly Sword developer have said 15 hour gameplay for Heavenly Sword.
