any official word on that? apparently nobody mentions that anymore, everyones so caught up in the HOME hype. any word if the update is tomorrow, or next week, or euro launch?
man id love it so much if it will come out tommorow but i dont know i just think its too good to be true( thats how i feel, has nothing to do with it happening or not.. )
Updates normally occur on Thursdays. But nothing beats Last Week's, as of yet.T-Zone
well if u say that then the update wont be on the 23rd of march since the 23rd is well, friday. so it could be tommorow which i want it to very badly be, and it could also be ones of these dates in march 15th 22nd 29th since these 3 are all thursdays.
If stuff does come out tomorrow, there will be a lot of competition on the servers. I hope they don't crash. That's one reason I want Sony to release the big update before European launch. I will be downloading for hours if they haven't fixed the slow download times.
The 3 things that I really want are the multi-tasking, upscaling 720p games to 1080i, and being able to download PSOne games to play on the PS3 instead of just the PSP. Resident Evil and Silent Hill would be very nice.

They already did. Are you talking about the problems playing 480i games? Or are you talking about upscaling?
i think he's talking about the 1080i issue, as for dvd upscaling, phil said that will happen in the future

The PS3 does not upscale anything at this point. The 1080i issue was that games being payed on 1080i HDTVs that did not have 720p were being downscaled to 480p. They fixed that issue. All you have to do is set the PS3 to output 1080p, and your TV will downscale to 1080i for you. BD movies can be downscaled from 1080p to 1080i, but not to 720p. If you only have a 720p TV, the BDs will be downscaled to 480p. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Also, there is a rumor that since they removed the emotion engine, PS2 games will be able to be upscaled to 720p or 1080i with a software update.

Yes. Sony will probably render the emotion engine useless once they start shipping the units w/o them to the US. It would not make sense to have one model with the EE and one w/o. The PS3's with the EE will most likely use the emulation software once it's released.
