This is new app for the PS3 and it is free to download. Type in VUDU in the search at the PS store. I have been disappointed with the streaming movies from the PS store so I was happy to see VUDU come on the PS3 recently. Very nice selection of movies, price is ok ($3.99 and up) but they also have $2 movies section which is huge, quality of streaming was very nice, ALL NEW RELEASES OUT SAME DAY AS DVD RELEASE and great user friendly interface. If you don't watch so many movies where netflix isn't worth the $9.99 or just need the convenience of streaming, you may want to try vudu. I'll still use redbox most of the time but it is nice to have vudu as an option. And when I downloaded it, they gave me a free $5.99 credit towards a movie rental. Anybody else tried it?

I was thinking about signing up, using my credit to rent Predators, and then forgetting about it.

I just downloaded vudu, it asked for email address and then they gave me $5.99 credit. I didn't even sign up with any information or credit card number. Just an email and I got free movie. I am definitely impressed by it. Much better than Netflix steaming selection and cheaper than my cable streaming which too has smaller selection. I saw the Expendables... The streaming was very good. The movie was ok.

If someone is going to watch a ton of different types of movies, then netflix is the better option at $9.99 (1 movie and streaming). My netflix streaming queue was pretty small because I didn't find much stuff worthy to watch. And Netflix has increased their prices. Netflix streaming is just ok. Not great with their streaming selections. I prefer redbox because it is only $1 ($1.50 blu-ray) and there are ton of them around me. However, Vudu gets a lot of releases where netflix and sometimes redbox won't have available for over month after their dvd release. Vudu is very convenient where you dont have to wait for mail or go to the redbox. Vudu $2 movies is a great deal and huge selection. All rental services have their pros and cons. I still like redbox the best and will be using redbox the most but I will also be using vudu sometimes.

I used it last night. Watched Scott Pilgrim as my free movie :D I can definitely see myself using it in the future too. I always rented movies off XBL if I was bored since you can stream, but Vudu seems to have an even bigger library with better selection so most likely I'll use it from now on if I want to rent movies.

I'm curious, do you have to pay a monthly fee like Netflix? If not, then i'll try Vudu for sure

Nah you only pay for what you rent/buy.

You just pay for the movie that time. Movies could be either $2, $3.99 (SD), $4.99 (HD 720p) or $5.99 (HDX 1080p with 5.1). Very big selection and new releases that netflix and redbox have to wait for.

I can say that walmart is the smartest ass I ever seen ... I started watching vudu because of their prepaid cards where bonus is vudu movie credit, this card cost $5 but if you walk by few websites like 4saleusa or netstrada you will be able buy this card/code for $3 or less. So you are able to watch movie, rent a movie for around $2-3 bucks! little bit higher than redbox but you do not have to drive anywhere to pick up the cd. and you can watch in any place in the World...
