I bought a 60g about a month ago, should I have waited for the 80g?

Same here. All you need to do is replace the 60GB HDD with a 250GB one and now you'll have 3x the space as the 80GB version PLUS the EE chip which allows you to play nearly all PS2 games. (The 80GB ones may have some issues as it uses software emulation to accomplish that feat)

GS even had a article (with pictures) that showed how easy it was to pop in a new drive. I had no concerns about the 60GB after that and got one right away.

I've got to get on that and soon! Still rolling around with the original 60GB HDD in there!

The chip in the PS2. If you've got it in the PS3, that's hardware emulation of PS2 games.

I've been planning to swap out my 60 gig for an 80 gig for a while.. but are people sure that the PS3 will support an HDDas large as 250Ghz?

no in 2 months the 80 gig will be 499. least thats the word on the net. i bought mine july 11th? right after e3.

i feel better buying the 60 gig with the ps2/ps1 chip. then a 80 gig with motorstorm that if i wanna play a ps2/ps1 game ill have to download some crap to get it to work. plus that rummor of the 80 gig`s price cut this fall.

You mean 250GB right ? :) Well anyways as long as it's a 2.5" SATA hard drive then no matter how big it is, it's going to fit fine and work fine in your PS3. I havn't found the need to upgrade yet, but then again I've only had my PS3 for two weeks. I'm sure come christmas time and with more downloadable content I'll make a swap out sooner then later.
