I typically love Rockstar Games. The only bash I've heard on the game is replay value (which I'm not really concerned about), but I want to know if the game has a story mode that's about as long as GTA IV's (took me 23 game hrs to beat that) Thanks.

Story wasn't short at all, for 18 bucks I'd say yeah go for it. The roaming around the city alone is worth that much :P
Right now, I think L.A. Noire Complete sells for around $30. If you don't care about the extra content, or you just really want to play the game right now, then $17.99 is probably as cheap as the standard edition is going to get (until the holiday season when everything is marked down again) and you might as well buy it. Even if you don't like it, you could probably turn around and sell it to a friend for $10, minimizing your loss. On the other hand, if you want the Complete edition with all the bonus content, I'd wait a couple months when it dips down to $19.99 or so. That's when I'll likely pick it up.
Before Skyrim, this was my GOTY, so I would say go for it. If it's the complete edition, more the better, but at that price, it would be hard to pass up.
L.A. Noire is an excellent game, if you take your time it can easily take you 30 hours, and the story mode is really engrossing.

Its a great game but not a typical rockstar game.It has the open city but is story driven and there is no reason to explore the city except for some hidden cars.its a great game though and should last you 20 hours easily. Also, the city is amazingly detailed, even more so than GTA 4.Side missions take no more than a minute or so to complete, but are just there to break up the story missions.
Don't go in thinking this is a Rockstar game. It's not. It's basically a modern day(yes, it takes place in the 1940s but that's not what I mean) point and click adventure. By in large, the majority of the game is investigations and interrogations with some car chases and shooting scenes here and there. Just know that going in because if you think this is GTA in the 40s, you're dead wrong.I typically love Rockstar Games.
