"A connection error has occurred. The attempt to obtain the IP address timed out."

Does anyone know how to fix this? i would really like to play games online.:?

I would make sure that you don't have MAC filtering on or if ya do, then add the PSP's. You can also check to make sure you are allowing enough connections.

Are you using a wireless router? If you are, I would check the connection with other wifi things you have, and see if they work. The IP address timing out usually means you are not close enough to the Wifi source, so try to move closer to the router if you can.

I can't think of anything else what would be wrong, maybe it's just your router.

Try doing a manual search, network settings and connect there to see if you find anything, test it and try going on the internet there.

U most probably entered the wrong pass. Try going into your modem's settings. Go to any internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 . That's the one by default. Then go to wireless settings and check the details there yourself. Security settings , pass etc. Hope that helps. :D

I'm having a similar problem with mine, although I get the error: A connection error has occurred. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the network and try again.

I've had internet up and running on my two PSPs before. But I changed my router settings today because I was having some problems with Utorrent and Xbox Live. I've gotten those resolved but now I can't connect with either of my PSPs. I have my router set to WPA Personal with AES. So I'm not sure if that's the problem or not, because as far as I recall that's what I had the router set to before I restored it to factory settings today, and internet worked on my PSPs then.

Try making the PSP connect using a Static IP Address instead of using DHCP. Usually this solves the IP address not being allocated since the PSP has its own specified address.

Like Anhmeister suggested, setting a static IP on the psp may be your quickest solution. When staticly assinging IP address information you will also need to set the default router's IP and the IP of a DNS, for full network functionality.

You will probably be able to get away with: IP: 192.168.1.20 default router: 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS:208.67.222.222

Leaving the rest of the fields the way they are.

Your other option of course is to figure out why your router is not assigning your psp an IP address. Some cheaper routers have trouble assigning addresses after being on for extended periods of time or after experiencing high traffic. Resetting the router usually fixes this problem. Otherwise, I am not really sure at what point MAC filtering denies a device a connection but I would think it is before assigning IP addresses. So if MAC filtering was your problem I would expect you to receive the error message ThugKing is receiving. But I've never used MAC filtering so idk.
