hi,

basically my ps3 freezes when i play disc games and bluray dvd after like 10 mins. but i have no problems playing psn games.

i tried cleaning the inside, but it still didn't work. so it must be a laser problem right? so i didn't see the point trying to do a system restore.

anyway i called sony and told them the problem and they asked me if i did system restore. i said i did, but i lied =P

they want to give me a replacement...is there anyway they would know that i didn't do a system restore the first time around?

(i'm gonna do itbefore i give it to them)

how long does it take to do a system restore?..and would it be quicker if i deleted data like messages/game saves etc first?

I had the same problem. I did a system restore but it still was shot. It takes around 2-3 hours. I say restore it and send it back to Sony and get a new one :D . Also don't forget to backup your save data.

If you do a system restore. What happens to you'r friend list? Do you keep it? Or does it go away?

Your friends list is tied to your PSN account (so are trophies), a system restore wouldn't affect it.

Cool. I knew about the trophies. But not the friend list.

Your bluray drive is fried a system restore wont do a single thing to repair that, so not doing it makes no difference.

Don't forget to sync your thophies before you do the restore otherwise you might lose some of them when you recover your PSN account.

YES! They do not automatically save, I had to do a system restore, and the ONLY thing I kept was my friends list.
