With me, PSP is opposite of what its designed to be. The Playstation Portable never really leaves my house all that much. Maybe to a close by trip to the grocery store but nothing more. like 90% of the time, all gaming on the PSP is done in my own room. When going to different locations/places, i consider taking the psp with me but always think "its just going to be a hassle, slow me down etc". i think im not using the psp corrently.

You could say, i use my psp as a handheld gaming device, just not a portable one. so, anyone else in the same boat?

I own the older psp, so its to much of a drag to carry around. to be honest, i don't really care for playing it else where. plus i have my ipod classic to listen to music and watch movies on.

im the same with my DS, buts its nice not being tethered to a tv in a specific spot all the time.

oh i want to hang out in room a where my game system isnt? its all good:)

plus, sometimes its nice to play while haivng tv or a movie on in the background, so you can just look up when something good happens

I feel the same. Taking it out with me just runs the risk of me dropping it. (which i have 3 or 4 times) :)

I feel the same way-- I'm afraid that it might drop, plus the WiFi only works in my house. =D Also, I have so many games that I haven't beaten a lot of them, so when I get bored with one, I switch instantly. Plus, I have a small T.V. to watch movies on, and play games, which is really cool.

I own both a ds and psp, and I find that my ds is used more outside of the house than my psp, and yet, I use them both around the same amount of time. Funny thing is is that I love all the stuff my psp can do (with the remote play with ps3 and such) and most of the time I wish the ds could do more. Sadly, the touch feature only encourages people to scratch and ruin their screens :P

Why doesn't Sony just give up the socially acceptable aesthetics and give us something more functional. A second analog would be nice. The battery life is short enough as it is, and nobody goes clubbing with a PSP.

Mine's a portable one. I take it wherever and whenever I want to. It doesn't have to be gaming only which it's not, I do what I want, when I want, how I want, with who I want. So I always change the way I do things and the order I do them in. Everybody has their own way of using it so there's nothing to argue about.

I have a GBA Micro, GBA SP, DS, and of course a PSP. I hardly ever take them out with me because when I'm out I'm doing something and don't have time to play. I do tend to take my GBA Micro around a lot because its so small its easy to fit in my pocket, but I hardly ever use it. I use to keep it in my backpack so I'd play when I went to school and had breaks in between classes but even then I didn't use it because I'd be talk to my friends instead.

Obviously, I like portable devices because one second I can be in my computer chair playing, and the next I can be laying down in bed playing, or playing in front of the tv watching something and only looking up when something interesting is going on.

I think this is one of the biggest reasons why the PSP is doing poorly in software sales. Most people play at home and most people have a console to play on. The DS offers games that are very different from what you can find on consoles, the psp on the other hand is trying to mimic a PS2, something most people already have. Personally, I have about 14 PSP games, but I think for most people, if Sony wants us to continue buying games then they need to give us games that we can't get anywhere else and are AAA must haves. Right now, Sony is concentrating on their AAA games mostly for the PS3.

For me its 100% portable, its not just a portable console, thats probably just the 10% i use it for, i have 3 full 8g memories, so its the stereo on my car, my gps device (bought it through internet quite a charm), the stereo at my home, my palm, my internet browser at cafes and at the office, my cinema, my msn messenger, my data transfer and my picture viewer all in one "relative" small device. I bought it about 3 years ago, and almost all that time it has always been with me wherever I go. I would love to see an Ipod trying to do all that

I quote my wife "Im really jealous of that lil piece of crap you always carry around, how does that thing deserves more attention than me?"

But well i gotta say im a real homebrew junkie, probably thats the difference

I used to carry it around everywhere I went because it was my mp3 player, but I got Itunes for my cellphone and a 1gb micro sd, so now it stays at home most of the time. Only take it out for long trips or when I know I'll be waiting for a long time, like when my brother went to the doctor last week

I'll usually play at home, but I have occasionally brought it with me on holiday and played it on the train. It's also nice to play it in the living room where other people are since it feels less anti-social.

Now thats the real use of a PSP, most people ignore that, I mean, the gps, stereo on car and home, msn, cinema and on top of that, the serious homebrew stuff.

I hardly see the PSP dead with all that.

I generally carry both my ds and psp with me in a little case. I play both at work, and on trips back and forth.

But I have noticed I've spent more time playing at home then I do away. My ps2 is starting to feel left out.

I was scared to use mine as a portable device for a while too. The screen is too nice, and I had nothing to protect it. I was scared I'd scratch it, so I just put it someplace safe, and used it only in my house. But last month I got a Slim, and found a pretty sweet accessory set for it. It included a screen protector, a clear plastic faceplate, and a little pouch that the PSP fits in perfectly. Since my MP3 player broke a while ago, it was kind of a blessing. I've been using it a lot for that very purpose lately, and it fits perfectly in my inner coat pocket. Lately I've been taking it with me on walks a lot, and I'm glad to finally be using it as a portable device. I don't think I ever would have if I didn't have adequate protection though.

I use mine like an ipod at school nd in classes I usually have a video to watch.

Home gaming I do a little of. I bring it places I cant play my consoles, or bring them 2. I would say it is a successful portable device for me. Honestly I have played 30x more music on it then games tho nd i hate how the earphones break so easy (same with remote)

I NEVER play my psp at home. Only on lunch breaks at work. I much rather play my PS3 when I am at home. I dont think there are enouggh quality games on the psp to keep me intrested in playing for long periods of time. The only game that had me hooked and I actually played at home was LocoRoco. I have 21 games
