I wouldn't mind doing that, infact I love my PS2 still, I cant believe I had gotten it for christmas around launch time and it still works! It looks terrible on my LCD tv tho. And I figured the PS3 would play them much better.JuggaloRandall
It's pretty much going to look terrible either way. You could at least get component cables for your PS2 though.

I never thought about component cables. Sweet thanksBe careful what you wish for.
I have a 60Gig BC PS3. Bought it used about 2 years ago. I paid $450 for it (after selling most of the used games it included the console was about $300). I played it regular (anywhere from 2-5 times a week, usually 1-4 hrs per time) & took good care of it (kept it cleaned, kept it in well ventilated entertainment stand- no walls only glass shelves). It just died week before last (first freezing, then shutting itself off, now it won't stay on- flashing red light). No PS3 gaming! On online gaming! No Blueray player! No surfing net on big screen HDTV! (61")
I am currently debating what to do.
Options:
-Send to Sony ($150 for trade-in on refurb PS3 Slim 120Gig no BC; $180 for fix mine or replace mine with same model-fix/replace is at Sony's discretion; all Sony options include losing all info on my system)
-Send to GopherMods or Videogame911 for repair (Gopher @ $70, includes saving my system info & 60 day repair warranty, but I have read some bad reviews of their service, add'l $30 for 6 month repair warranty; 911 @ uncertain $ figure- they claim less than Sony, includes saving my system info & 90 day repair warranty)
-Don't fix it (rehooked up my PS2 to the big TV & really enjoying the older games; I only have like 15 PS3 games, but have +40 PS1 & +100 PS2 games)
-Put $$$ toward 360 or Wii (have about $150 in Best Buy gift cards I've been saving- if only Best Buy fixed PS3s; I'm interested in 360- always hear online community better than Sony; wife wants a Wii- the family friendly machine)
I know I shouldn't complain about my situation (have beautiful wife/daughter/new baby coming, good job/career, am healthy & don't live in 3rd world country). BUT IT STILL SUCKS THAT MY PS3 IS BROKEN & I'M UNDECIDED WHAT I WANT TO DO ABOUT IT.
You will see marked improvement of PS2 graphics from standard AV cables to s-video cable to component cables (I have tried all 3). Extra tip for better PS2 graphics on HDTV... try switching thru your TVs different viewing modes (regular, cinema, panorama, stretch, wide-stretch, etc.), the graphics will look best on the TV setting where the TV does the least amount of altering/stretching of the input signal source material.
Congratulations on the wife and children =]. That dose sound like a predicament. Have you thought of switching to the PS3 slim? Its not like me to suggest that. Im a fan of the original PS3's. But from what I hear you can get trade in value form Sony if you trade in your old guy for a slim. Or you could sell it to me? HaHa. I wouldn't mind getting it fixed haha.Be careful what you wish for.

Last thing, I got my 60Gig using local Craigslist. Found a kid looking to switch from PS3 to 360 because all his friends were on 360. I would keep an eye on Craigslist in your area, still see 60 Gigs in my area semi-often. But when using Craigslist remember to not get mugged/killed/screwed/kidnapped. (no back alleys/bring a friend/tell someone where you're going/insist on seeing it work/buyer-beware)
Sorry so many replies. Ishutupnow.

Agreed, if you want to play PS2 game - buy a PS2. Don't get me wrong it is cool having it all on one system I also had a release 60GB but not having the BC feature isn't that big of a deal to me. You can pick a PS2 up now for cheap. The 60GBs have by far the highest rate of failure. Just buy an old PS2 off of Ebay or Craigslist and let the good times roll.
