I get the feeling that a lot of money is being spent just to harm the PS3...

Just look at the offenses we already know about! (Madden '08 and NCAA football '08 only 30fps, paying Rockstar $50 million for exclusive content, Paramount and Dreamworks Animation studios declaring their loyality to HD-DVD $150 million dollars later.) I truly believe that M$ is in an all-out blitzkrieg against Sony and the PS3 that Sony was not completely aware of until (hopefully) now. I like both systems but if M$ is going to be that dirty and under-handed in this war, I'm going to be forced to side with Sony. In this situation M$ reminds me way too much of Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.

i can't believe you just compared a gaming division of a company to a political party that is responsible for a mass genocide of an entire population in Europe. :|

using money to talk has always been part of business. Sony did this to muscle out Nintendo in the PS1 days.

No, that's called business. Last time I checked, Microsoft isn't sending anyone to death camps, killing members of a certain race, or invading France. You might want to be careful about what your comparing

although i think its stupid to compare them to nanzis, their tactics are not the same sony used in the ps1 days. sony gave incentives like cheaper licensing fees and whatnot, not 50 mil in cold hard cash. theres a difference...

how is that different? it all equates to Sony giving money or losing money in order to better their relations with publishers/devs.

The difference is that M$ is buying off videogame devlopers AND buying off studio's ...

Microsoft subsidises Toshiba's HD-DVD players ... Universal had admitted they *cut financial deals* with M$ and want the format war to continue ... Paramount and Dreamworks got $150 million off Microsoft as *advertisment funding* money provided they dropped *most* their Blu-ray support ( Spielberg films are now annouced as on Blu-ray and HD-DVD but Mr. Spielberg won't let Paramount release them on HD-DVD ... he is also the reason Universal cannot release film such as Jurassic park ... he has chosen Blu-ray ... )

Now if SONY paid Dell / Toshiba / Apple / Retailersto make sure all the laptops and PC's they made all used OSX instead of Windows ... im guesses Microsoft would be taking SONY to court ... and how would you react if SONY decide to attack the XBOX 360 they basically spent billions of $$$ helping Apple and slowly destroying Microsofts OS monopoly ....

Obviously it would be wrong of SONY to interfere with Micorosft's business area's which have nothing to do with Microsoft ... Microsoft is how-ever trying to hurt Blu-ray for 2 simple reasons. (1) IF blu-ray dies PS3's price isn't so nice. (2) Microsoft wants to have a monopoly over digital downloads and control over the movie industry ( like Apple has a huge influence on the music industry due to the marketshare they get from itunes and ipod's ... )

link to MS, and MS themselves, being the sole organization that bought off Paramount/Dreamworks?

all articles that i have read have said that the HD DVD promotion group were the ones who struck a deal with Paramount/Dreamworks.

MS is not even a managing member of this organization... much less the Chair Company. they are just a general member, due to the fact that they made a deal to put HD DVD drives on the 360 (just as an option... not pushing it as hard as Sony is with Blu Ray).
