I want to thank everyone on this forum who helped me out this past week answering my questions about the ps3. Im glad to report that I love it and I am really enjoying Resistance. But I have one last question that concerns me. When I pop in a game before everything loads a static image appears. You know like when your TV goes out in a storm. Sometimes it covers the entire screen or just a small part of it, is this normal? I have it hooked up with a HDMI cord and i have a samsung 61" 1080p tv if that helps.
If it's just a flickering of the image, then it's normal. The video signal will drop out for a moment while the PS3 adjusts resolutions. Since Resistance is only 720p, it has to adjust for the change in resolution from the XMB (which I'm assuming you have running at 1080p).

yes I do have it running at 1080p, thank you for your help. Im glad its not a hardware problem!
Many game will do this because the console is actually trying to display the best resolution possible for your TV and the game you are playing at the time.
