To shofmeijer00: Other than it being silent, what do you think of the PS3? Most people post topics on this forum saying things like "I bought a PS3 an..." as the title with "it's amazing!" as the content - so what do you think?

Maybe the numbers of the Xblox is so high because most of the owners get 2 or 3 of the things because they blow up and set ur house on fire.. So they have to go out and but a new one or if there lucky they get a free replacement. You never know...:roll:
if u put it in a place small place with lots of things next to it and the ps3 dont have much air...is gonna make some noise...another thing is that my7 ps3 when i load a dic it makes noise like GGG GGGGG GGG then whe i play no noise and as soon as i press start on GTA GGGGG GG GGG then stops.
The PS3 is quieter than the 360, but louder than the Wii. It does a hell of a lot more than the Wii and throws out a lot of air. When you have the volume up and you're focused on whatever it is you're doing, you don't notice the sound anymore.

I have a launch 20 gig PS3 and its quieter then me pressing the R1 button. Wanna know why the PS3 is so quiet?, because its fan is about a third the size of the PS3 itself.
Yes, because the PS3 installs the games, so it plays it off the hard drive and not off the disc, for super silent-ness. The Xbox 360 will be the same, once it gets it's big update. No more jet engine on my desk.
Since most people usually play with the volume on I don't really think that how loud the console is really matters. Unless your parents have put a ban on your gaming and you have to wake up at 2 each night to play. But it's not as if I'm talking from experience, is it? :)
