i'm thinking about getting one, but i need to know how long it might last.Spixter534My psychic powers are failing me; sorry
In Japan the PSP came out in Dec. 2004, In US it came out Mar. 2005, and in europe it came out in Sep. 2005. Sony gave the PSP a 5 year life span until the next generation. Keep in mind though even after the PSP2 comes out, the PSP will still have games coming out just like when the PS3 came out the PS2 had God of war, test drive, final fantasy ect. Unlike Nintendo and Microsoft, Sony lets their systems live. I mean look at the Game boy advance, right after the DS came out it was dead.
So I expect the PSP to follow the PS1 and PS2 example:
Late this year or early next year a smaller PSP will come out.
Mid 2008- early 2009 the PSP2 will come out.
On a side note I sure wish they put a HD screen and close to PS3 power in the PSP2, but looking at how the PSP screen is ED(480p) and it has around PS2 power you can assume that the PSP2 will have next gen quality graphics and high def screen.
Also sony said they want handhelds to start catching up with consoles, in graphics and power, hence the PSP came out ( portable PS2) and the PSP2 will come out (portable PS3). Don't worry you have a good 2 years until the PSP2 and even after that, the PSP will keep living.
