Namco Bandai, Square Enix, Rockstar, Konami are the companies I hate. They used Sony's platforms to gain popularity for their games but then they don't help Sony it return when it's in need. They've all made their exclusive titles multi platform for money. How do you feel about this?

It's just business, d00d. Money's tight, I'm sure, companies have to make money however they can. The reason I hate Konami isn't because they went multiplatform, it's because they release crap.

who cares? The fact that more people can play games without shelling out more money than the price of the game is a good thing. Square isnt obligated to Sony. they made a deal, and what theyre doing isnt breaking the deal, so what the hell is the problem?

The only thing I hate about multi-platform games, is that developers go for the least common denominator when developing for these high end systems. But business is business.

How dare publishers try to make as much money as possible. Don't they know that it's the sensitivity of fanboys that matters most?

What jerks.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that, while I do understand the need for exclusivity and the sad possibility of shoddy ports, there is still nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with games going multiplat.

3rd party exclusivity isn't happening nowadays because, unlike last-gen, there's two other extremely viable consoles to think about. By sticking with Sony, there's just too much money being left on the table. Do you wish to work hard and make less money? I know I sure don't, and neither do any of you.

All I can say about that is, I don't like bad ports. It doesn't matter what system it's for or where it comes from.

I hate bad ports as much as anyone but when a game is proparly made like COD4 for example and looks good on all the consoles i don't care. Neither do i care that SE is porting FFXIII because this means that my friends (who all own xboxs) will be able to play an FF finally. Neither do i care that MGS is getting ported because, yet again, it means that my friends will be able to play the game as none of them believe me when i say that the FF and MGS games are the best out there.

When games become more expensive to develop, going multiplatform helps cover the costs. It's only going to become more common as costs rise, and until software and hardware developers get together and try to find a solution, this will always be the case.

I agree, back in the ps2/xbox days, multi-platforms always looked better on the xbox b/c it had the most powerful hardware. The gen however i feel the ps3 hardware is more powerful but i've yet to see anything that looks considerably better b/w both these systems (as far as multi-platforms are concerned). The only explanation i can come up with is the developer are sleeping behind the wheel.

the main problem is that Microsoft uses their money to lie to the customers to try to get more sales, which makes it "unfair competition", they make an agreement with some developers to lie, pretending "this game" will never come to PS3, thus making people buy some X360 or said game, based on the lie that the game will never be released on PS3.

Another problem is that the PS3 hardware is superior and Microsoft strongly implies that the game must be the same on both platforms, even less good on PS3 if possible.

That makes multi platform really unnerving at best.

Why'd you mention SE, they're almost 360 exclusive this gen. (EVERY PS3 game from them has been canceled/isn't out yet.)

I don't understand. Why is this so important to the gamers?

Let the big boys like Sony and Microsoft worry about exclusivity. We're the consumers.

When a game goes multi-plat, of course it takes away the originality of it for the one console but it's gonna boost the game's popularity. Everyone could get a taste of the goodness. It's good for the developers, less good for whoever loses the exclusive but it's not going to affect the company that badly.

Just enjoy the games.

I feel that I watch the economic climate, the markets and to stay exclusive to a console with the lowest attach rate is ridiculous. These companies are in business. Not relationships. It's not personal and hand shakes and hellos don't pay the staff. Nobody used Sony, they did and still do business with Sony. Are you sure these feelings of yours aren't about losing something exclusive to brag about to owners of different consoles? If that is the case here, then your feelings are self centered. It's not personal. Sony, MS, and Nintendo don't really care about us, just the money we can give them.

it was those publisher that made sony what it was in the first place. multiplat games benefit from a much larger budget they produce greater returns so publishers can take greater risks. plus we, as consumers should want everyone to be able to enjoy these games regardless of the platform they own. more multiplats is always a good thing for people who luv video games.

I hate Developers/Publishers that decide to go multi with some games because "more people get to enjoy it" then turn around and keep other games exclusive.

I don't mind the multi-plats I just hate the fact that we always end up getting the crappy ports. But at least Tekken 6 and Final Fantasy XIII aren't gonna be crappy ports since Namco and Square started making those games on the PS3 first.

Publishers/Developers are businesses. What is the goal of a business? To make money. What is a simple, effective way to make money? Make your product be multiplatform. It's not a mystery on why they do it. Just because the groups you mentioned went multiplatform, doesn't mean they betrayed Sony. Friends and business never mix

i dunno playing with the XMB is pretty fun, its all like swooosh, click swooosh, teehee. Then you put the street fighter theme which changes all the sounds, gives it a techno vibe, then there is the relzxing flower theme, with its wind noises... so relaxing...

Just to clarify, if these companies were to be as brand loyal as you wish them to be, titles like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Metal Gear would have never been on any of the Playstations to begin with!

.....FAIL

I doubt you will feel the same way when a 360 exclusive comes to the ps3. As long as I can play the game, multiplat or exclusive, I have nothing to complain about whatsoever.

Also, it is because of the ps2 that games like MGS and FF are popular? Flawed logic, these games get their fanbase by the game's own merit, NOT by said game being an exclusive.

Square Enix first used Nintendo to gain popularity then jumped ship to Sony. If they never done that then Sony fans would have missed out on a stack of great games.

Didn't Sony get offered by Rockstar if they wanted an exclusive deal but Sony didn't want to pay for it. So with next generation have much higher developers cost then multi-plate is the safer bet than a exclusiveto get back all there money.

The Xbox has had the same problem where a game make it name on the xbox then goes to the PS3 like Bioshock, Lost Planet etc

If Sony paid for timed exclusives and advertising for the game would you expect them to mention the game is also on the 360. You paydevelopers fora timed exclusive for the very reason that you want your game to sell first. Sonys has done this in the past so why single out MS?Sony just got to big and up themself this generation that they thought they wouldn't have to pay for any exclusive but all the developers like Rockstar and Square Enix would stay exclusive just because theyhad exclusive gameson the PS1 and PS2 but these consoles had no real competition.

Why wouldn't MS imply that there game is better on there system. When the PS3 first came out then MS was speaking the truth when they said that multiplateform games where better on the 360. It not been that long since PS3 has caught up to MS on multi-plat games.

I own both systems and they are as bad as each other. There has been pages and pages about the lies Sony and MS makes to sell there games.

This is how you define a fanboy. Someone who thinks of the console first, games second. Non-fanboys realise it was the games that made Sony's consoles popular.

I can't tell if this is a joke thread or not. If it isn't, I'm too sad to reply with anything of any value. How can a person fault a company for being greedy when that very person demonstrates greed by not wanting people that have a different platform to play the same game? Companies need to make money. In this particular economy every business is taking a huge punch in the face, so like it or not, they are going to do whatever they can to stay afloat. I can't really say much more. I just really hope this is a joke thread...

It's all for business which I understand. I also understand why people are hurt because those titles are what made Playstation big and losing them to some of the jerks that support xbox just makes insult to you because they brag about it, but it is just business and if companies didn't do this we wouldn't have games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Ninja Gaiden etc...so it works out for both companies. I just wish some more would do it, like the guys who are developping for Mass Effect, that's the one 360 game i'd like to have go to the PS3.

Yes, because a game going multiplatform automatically makes it a bad game.
