I mean seriously why is my system telling me this its supposed to be an 80 gig not a 74 gig ps3. I mean i truely dont understand this if anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be greatly appreciated...........
The operating system takes up memory. The same is true for iPods/mp3 players and any other computer. However, I doubt you'll ever miss that 6G, and if you do, you probably need a bigger hard drive anyway. ;)
Some space is taken up by the PS3's OS, the XMB, and possibly by some updates ... my 60GB only has 55GB available for me to use ... it's perfectly normal.
OS systems don't take away from the maximum HD space. It still goes under used space. The lamen way to explain it is that manufacturers round 1 GB = 1000 MB when dolng their caclculations when really it's 1024 MB. When having alot of data that 24 megs make this difference.
