I have a feeling that there's gonna be a slim NGP somewhere down the line... like a year or 2 after the original.

EG. PSP fat - PSP slim

PS2 fat - PS2 slim

PS3 fat - PS3 slim

So I think I'll just buy a GO and wait a year before buying the NGP. What are your thoughts?

I might be a bad example since I have all versions of the PSP but most likely Sony will do 1 more upgrade. It's natural as technology advances. I'm hoping that sometime later this year PSN games will get cheaper. I really do enjoy the GO and i'd like to purchase more games.

there will almost deffinitely be multiple iterations of the system. thats why as much as I want to buy it day one I will not be doing so. I will wait until at the very least there are different colors to choose from. Also to the above poster, I honestly dont feel that what Sony (and nintendo with the DS) have done with there handheld consoles should have gotten to the "natural" state that it has with this multiple iteration crap. The only reason i even have a slim PSP is because the nub on my phat broke. I think that it is greedy and rather unfair for these companies (and this gets expanded out to Microsofts Xbox "slim") to expect their customer base to buy the same system over and over again because they added a new function or make it lighter. All that shows to me is that the original product was rushed to market and that the first release was in a sense the Beta version. I feel the same way about games now that release "add-on" content within a few weeks of the games release.

Most likely! They always seem to make a slimmer model of a system.

Well... duh. They've been doing slim/newer models since the Gameboy days. It would be more surprising if they stopped doing that. Not really a bad thing though.

Of course. When console/handheld life cycles are meant to be longer than 4-5 years, they have to re-release a new, sleek, thinner version of it.

Kind of like the 3DS. I'll just wait for the Lite, for both of them.

I want a slide/Go version of the NGP, so I'll wait. I hate having a brick in my pocket, I had a ds lite for 5 years and I always thought it was a step back in design.

Well not everyone goes out with it in their pocket even though it's a handheld. A lot of people just play it at home.

if there is a revision it wont be as high quality as the first batch of NGP thas for sure. sony is making high quality psps now but it took em a while. have you seen the ngp? it looks stunning. i really hope they dont change much about it before it goes to shelves. as long as battery life is ok. wonder if it will be removable?

The NGP is the biggest handheld console ever, but thats only because it has a huge screen. It's still gonna fit in your pocket, unless you're a skinny-jean wearing emo. And I don't see too much they could revise when it comes to technlogoy. They could make it thinner, but thats it. And I get the feeling that the whole "back touch pad" isn't gonna be used too widely so its a possibility that they could ditch that with a revision model. But that would mean all the games that DO use that feature wouldn't be compatible.

You mean since the PS1 days? They came first.

yes. it is sony's technique to get more out of their customers.

Customer 1: "I'll buy an NGP"

........(after 1 year or so)

Customer 1 (again): "I'll buy an NGP SLIM"

Sony:

Maybe... But it also gives consumers that didn't buy the system even more reason to.

Actually, yeah it could."Slim" models tend to have less faulty hardware and are better optimized. Also, with it being a portable, a smaller size would def be a plus.

Actually, the PSP's slim models took out the more durable metal shell. That's a minus(less durable). But in general you're right.

The current NGP seems to be pretty slim and sleek already, so if the launch lineup is good and the hardware isn't faulty, I see no reason to wait specifically for a slim version to come out. No doubt there will be a slim version, though. I think it's good companies work to reform their systems though, even if it's just to attract sales. Could you imagine if the DS Lite never came out and all we had was the grey and clunky original version?

I am still going to buy the first NGP because it gets the system off the ground (if it doesn't make sales it doesn't make revenue, stopping that branch of Sony) and maybe it will be the only backwards compatible NGP with certain games, I don't know.

Yes there will be a slimline NGP released about 2 years after original The NGP is released this year. (November 2011?) So a slim NGP 2013.

PS1,PS2,PS3,PSP have all have smaller slimline versions released. So When NGP is released eventually an NGP slim will follow.

There is always going to be a new release of a console which is just smaller. Its a trend in all the consoles. There would be a slim NGP after a few years after the release of the original NGP.

it will be a good think if the dont use make a slim verson but instead a same NGP created with new technology of 11nm, that automaticly means less power for playing games so more hours of game ;) that will be total useful imo
