Hey everyone! I was wondering I have had a ps3 for about a year almost. But I have never had a ps2 and I thought all ps3 were backward compatible. But I think I have the 40gb one that doesnt. Should I buy a ps2 slim? Cause Im kinda interested in a ps2 now, cause I've heard that it has a great library. What do you all think? Is it worth it? Paying $70 for a used Slim ps2 is that worth the price? Or should I just stick to just playing my Wii and PS3?

If you have a PS3 that is not backwards compatible and if there are some PS2 games you really want to play then go ahead and buy it.

How did you skip ahead to just having a PS3....should've gone in order when you were younger, playstation, 2...and now 3...but whatever suit yourself. Recommend the Jak and Daxter games for it though....especially the 3rd one in the franchise

Theres a answer I have for that lol! You see I was simply a Nintendo fanboy and refused to buy anything but Nintendo games and systems up until a year and a half ago. But now I just wanna enjoy games no matter what system they are on. Thanks 4 the Jak and Dakter recommendation.

Well...It's only about 50.00 but I'll recommned you to get the Bigger PS2 than the Slim becuase the Bigger one and play the very very very old games for the PS2 that first came out and the power supply last longer..Or, You can just hunt for a 60GB and get lucky but, Yes to the point just get it if you want to play the PS2 games

thing like this are up for you to decide... check that huge PS2 library... if you get pretty interested enough with the games, why not get a PS2?! it's a great system... but don't expect better graphics, since you already have been playing the PS3 for quite sometime now...

I think the PS2 is always worth it. Amazing library of games, great price, still has support from Sony.

Very much worth it. If you're not a sucker for graphics because obviously many ps2 games have outdated graphics then GO and pick that PS2 up. The amount of good games is endless and you can pick them up for hardly anything on eBay. Man I wish I had never played PS2 I would have so much to look forward to. MGS 2 & 3, Final Fantasy 10 and 12, Dark Cloud 1 + 2, Rogue Galaxy just to name a few the list is endless!

Nah, sony sorta gimped all the ps3s nowadays. Upscaling, smoothing, system reliablity, and clutter saver isn't enough to sony to keep it in the ps3.

2 options. An easy way, and a hard but a way that pays off. Easy way, buy a slim ps2 since they are somewhat reliable. Just overheating issues after awhile. Hard way, junk that ps3 on ebay or *god forbid* gamestop, and look for a 60gig or a mgs4 80gig bundle. Can't really say the regular 80gig, since its hard to tell if its the gimped version, or the one worth your money.

If you're interested in playing a lot of PS2 games then yeah I don't see why not.

I traded in my PS2 and some games to get $400AU off my PS3, then I just bought another one for $50AU :D I went for the fat one though because that's all I ever had and just preferred the look.

W/e dude. Thats a pretty stupid comparison. I was just just asking for suggestions from people who own a ps2 is it really worth it to buy this late now, because I was kinda interested it. There arent that many games I liked for the ps3 so far. But the 6 out of 7 ones I got I really enjoy. Although 2009 looks very good for the system. So I decide to go to a professional gaming forum, and see is it true does the ps2 have a bigger and better gaming library than the ps3, cause I was on the borderline of whether I should get one, and was welcoming any positives or negatives about the system that could help finalize my decision. Anyways thanks to everybody else who has helped with my decision. :)

I bought a PS2 slim when the PS3 was released. Totally worth it. Buy the latest Persona!! :D

Then later I got the MGS4 bundle... turns out it was compatible with PS1 & 2 games... oh well, lol.

Bright side is, more memory for my PS3 and doesn't get worked as much!!
