hi,

I just started playing bioshock today.

since i'm playing it on survivor difficluty (and with no vita chambers-to get trophies..) i have been having a hard time fighting the big daddies..

the actual levels on survivor defficulty are not that hard at all, only the big daddy fights and boss fights are hard..

so I was wondering: is it very hard to survive if u dont get adam?? becuase u dont HAVE to fight the big daddies if u just avoid them..so i could either skip the big daddies (and avoid a hard boss fight) and not get adam or fight the big daddies and get adam...which option is easier?? is the adam really that important??

-thanks

Yes, you COULD skip the big daddies... but I do believe there's another trophy for freeing all the little sisters (Which I would think all trophy whores would want). You don't technically need "Adam" either, but that's your call. I think it's a bit of a waste of the game though since its whole personality revolves around being able to use your new fangled powers, if you ask me. I hope you like using your wrench to beat the crap out of people a lot because that's what you're going to be doing (I wouldn't think there would be tons of ammo laying around in Survivor difficulty).

Are you playing it on Survivor/No Vita just to get all the trophies in one go?

I know about the "little sister savior" trophy. u dont have to rescue ALL the little sisters...u just have to make sure u dont harvest any...it's enough to just rescue one and not harvest any other one to get the trophy..so your saying ill do fine without adam and I should just avoid the big daddies??

Here's what I recommend; Skip one or two (if there are three) Big Daddies for one level. Get just enough Adam to build your health and get a valued plasmid or two. Once you get better weapons (and you should have them all by the middle of the Fort Frolic level), go back and kill them. Heat seeking RPGs and incendiary bolts, coupled with a few well-placed frag grenades and mines take them down pretty easily, even in the latter stages of the game. Plus, you can recover a few of the bolts off of the corpse. For the bouncers, electro-bolt does a good job at stopping their charge and telekinesis (which is free) is a great tool against the Rosies. Just throw back the mines that they throw at you. The issue, at least for me, wasn't the difficulty. They don't get harder. It's the fact that I didn't have enough stinking weapons to take them down. Other than that, be creative and use your environment to help you. Before you attack, develop a plan of attack. Figure out where you can hide, where you can trap the Big Daddy, and what things are lying around that can help you. I've played though Bioshock on the 360 and the PS3 many, many times and I'll say that the Big Daddys on survivor mode are very challenging, but worth it. It's forced me to play the game in ways that I previously hadn't.

I have this game too but have not finished. One of the magazines, Playstation, Off Mag had some tips on it. One is use traps, mines, and the environment. And Many fights should be avoided, and you will need your plasmids. And to use the research camera whenyou get it.

I went the Security Bullseye and Chameleon Tonic route. At most I would use a few armor piercing rounds.

I suggest you to fight the big daddies because you need ADAM to upgrade yourself, or you'll have a hard time fighting the splicers and the bosses. At first it's hard to fight the big daddies on survivor difficulty but you should check the area before starting to shoot the big daddies. Where the big daddies are walking, search for areas where you can hide from his bullets, around corners, for example run around the corner and come from his back and shoot him, repeat this untill his dead. you shoul also be patient, just shoot a couple os bullets/grenades, then run around some corner, don't be greedy :d because he gets you and the lifebar is decreasing quickly on survivor difficulty.

First use the powerfull weapons like armor piercing rounds, grenades later in the game when you get them, and especially the Chemical Thrower with Electric Gel is effective against big daddies, because when you start shooting with electric gel they can't move untill you stop or you run out of ammo, so you should have as much as Electric Gel possible, then start shooting with grenades, heat-seeking rockets or what you have in store. It's not so hard after you figure out how to fight the big daddies on survivor. You just have to study the area, search for covers before fighting them.

thanks for the advice. do u think I should fight ALL the big daddies, or should i skip the few first ones untill i get better weapons and plasmids? beucase I just started and all i have is a shotgun, a pistol, a machine gun,a wrench, and telekenesis and electric plasmids..so it's kinda hard..(much easier when I have a grenade launcher and traps...)

whut?? it is super fun to kill Big Daddies and suck the adam out of Little Sisters, you should first try it in normal then go for survival in your 2nd playthrough
I killed the first three big daddies without skipping them at all. All I had to do for the first big daddy was shoot him and have him run after me all the way to the area where I got the "Flame/fire plasmid"....(don't go inside the room where you found the fire plasmid...just outside of the little room where the there is a furnace looking thing at the very back of the room..jump into the square where the furnace is located and shoot at the big daddy from there until he dies...)..he is pretty easy since he doesn't shoot anything at you...when you're done with him rescue the little sister. Second big daddy should be the easiest....there are a lot of exploding canisters in the area so just use kinesis chuck them at him....while running in and out of rooms.... once done with him...rescue the little sister....after this you'll get the "hypnotize big daddy" plasmid (that is if you also rescued the first little sister where you didn't have to fight the big daddy). If used effectively you can have one big daddy fight another big daddy . The plasmid can ensure that you won't have to fight any other big daddy (except one more) through the entire game.
It really is a great game. Have fun and take your time playing it.

It's not necessary to fight all of them, but I didn't leave one alive. :D You should search carefully every area for ammo and money, IT'S BETTER TO BE OVERSUPPLIED THAN UNDERSUPPLIED. I searched every room to be sure that I don't run of ammo. You'll have enough cash to buy enough ammo to fight the big daddies.

Also, later you get a plasmid, which gives you the option so that the enemies fight against each other. It's so fun to see 2 big daddies fighting each other, then you just shoot the big daddy which has just a little life left.

if you need more help.. let me know. I can try to be more detailed in what the magazine wrote about. if you can afford it.. Im a fan of the quide books to hlep you when you are stuck. They have some useful information and sometimes makes for good reading when you;re bored
