Are memory cards an ABSOLUTE neccesity? I mean, when you pop a game in, can you just play it? Or do you need a memory stick to save? And Since im getting a 1GB memory stick with my PSP, is that enough for it?
For the PSP 1000-3000, yes, it is a necessity, but only if you want to save your game data. If you just want to play it and not save, then you shouldn't buy one. But you could wait a few months for the PSP Go to come out. It has 16GB of flash memory and a bunch of other new features. But the one bad thing is that it doesn't take UMD's, but they might have ways to transfer them into game files on the PSP Go.
But if you're absolutely positive that you're going to get a PSP now, then you should definitely get a memory card. But if you plan on getting a couple games from the PSN, you should maybe get a 2GB or 4GB memory stick.
Im probably just going to use it for game saves, UMD movies dont take up any space do they? And there aren't any Downloadable games in particular I want right now, probably just games from the store, so I think that a 1GB card will be ok for me right?

A 1GB card will do you just fine. I bought a 128MB memory stick for mine, I only wanted it for game saves. I have over 30 PSP games and still about 70MB left! UMD movies take up zero space on your memory card also. It is entirely possible to play a PSP game without a memory stick. You just can't save then. :P
