this has never happened to me or any of the people I know. From what I hear its most likely just the prestige (sp?) so its probably just a problem with its production.

Brown spots showing up on the underside of the disc. There hasnt been a report of anything rotting besides 1 movie. The prestige and very few reports of it happening. Its just a bad batch of discs.

Ah, so it's more of a case of these discs leaving the assembly line like that? After seeing the word "rotting" i thought we were talking about these discs being good at one point and going bad over time (a very short time for that matter). I feel better now.

Well that may be that case that the spots appeared later on. But the fact that it has only happened with 1 movie so far makes me think it is only 1 bad batch. Here is an article about it.

I have had discs for over 10 years, and ive never had a case of "rotting" on any of them... Eventhough blu-ray may be somewhat new, i highly doubt this will be a problem for all discs seeing as this was noticed from one batch of discs from the same movie... Until more cases are noticed with a different disc, theres nothing to fret about :D

haha this is hilarious. It was a batch if anything. I got it launch day and it looks perfect as if this moment. Honestly, i've heard claims of standard dvd's having this problem, know cd's have. So in reality how is it a big deal?
