Wow what a horrible game, It took 5 hours to beat on hard and being the first battlefield game I have ever played. Best buy is having a 50 percent trade in twords uncharted 3 and I am going there today and trading it back in towards that, any one with me.

exactly what bioisam said, i got it strictly for the multiplayer. i dont know what u expected from the single player, but the only shooter out there that i personally thing had a good SP and MP was resistance series. games like call of duty and battlefield arent really too much about SP they all focus on MP mainly, maybe next time a lil research wont hurt u

You won't even try the co-op or multiplayer?

I'm still working on the campaign, but I'm really looking forward to the online portion of the game. If BF3 is at least 10% as fun as Bad Company 2 is, then I'll be playing this game for a long time.

BF Bad Company 2 is my fav FPS game.

Definately not with you. :P Why are you not playing the multiplayer? Did you buy BF3 just for the campaign? If so, you did it way wrong man. I always play through the campaigns because they are fun for me, but IMO they are worth about $10-$15. The games meat lies in it's multiplayer and it has been that way for competitiveFPS's for quite some time now. If the critics reviewed BF3 based only on the campaign it would get like a 6 probably. It is getting these 9's because of it's online component.

It looks as though you are an SP gamer. If I were you I'd steer clear of any annual recycled FPS games. I bought COD 5,6,7 and invested plenty of hours on MP ONLY.

I also just finished the campaign and will say overall I enjoyed it but there were a large number of presentation things that really irked me like them lifting quotes straight out of Generation Kill, the game stalling when it saves mid-mission and the static loading screens that break up the action.

Mediocre campaign, awesome multiplayer. Most of my problems with the game outside of the single player is that it's dry and the art design is horrrible uninspired, which is a waste considering the tech behind it is fantastic. Battlefield 3 simply lacks personality.

I would rather not use my online pass so that the person who buys it used can have it, besides mw3 comes out in a couple of weeks and I will be playing that multiplayer.

The singleplayer is really just a tutorial for the multiplayer. I mean, I get you... I play games mostly for single player too, but really, this game is all about multiplayer with a campaign on there as a bullet point on the box.

LOL you gotta be kidding me man.

You wasted your time/money if you just play the single player and trade it in.

The multiplayer is EXCELLENT so I suggest you stick with that for awhile. I read that if you trade BF3 in to Gamestop you only have to pay $5 to get MW3. I love Battlefield series, but if I have my platinum trophy while that promo is active then I'll probably take advantage of that deal.

I am not impressed with the SP either. The Multi is where it is at. I see myself playing this more than MW3, Way more in depth multi rather than kill streaks and all that BS.

Single player is terrible. Typical for a Battlefield campaign. At least the Bad Company ones were more opened. I don't know what they were thinking with this scripted, linear crap.

Multiplayer is amazing though.

I just cancelled my amazon order where I was to get the $20 credit and the karkland add-on. I ordered this game last week and amazon still didn't ship it so I was able to cancel it. I know these military shooters are aimed for multiplayer. However, I still prefer solid good single player campaigns and I am disappointed that people are complaining about the bad and short single player campaign. Battlefield 3 looks amazing though. Maybe I will get it in the future. I have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Battlefield Bad Company 2 so those will have to do for now. I never even tried Black Ops and I put little time in Battle Bad Company 2 so I will play those for now.

I like single player games as well but this is a multiplayer military shooter world we live in. I cancelled my order. Why would you trade Battlefield 3 for (50% which I am assuming is $30) when you could easily sell the game for +$50 (w/online pass) on ebay?

yea, after call of duty 4, i think the SP for the rest of their games were pretty much crap and copy and paste, thats just my personal opinion, doesnt make em facts, but they are just as bad as any other shooter out there. games like call of duty and battlefield are known for their MP, thats where they put most their effort into.

Big reason why I didn't buy this game. I have nothing against FPS's but I always want one that has a good campaign and good MP. That's why Killzone and Resistance are some of the best games I've played on my PS3.

Battlefield has a terrible campaign, but an amazing multiplayer for those willing to put the time into it. I already have Uncharted 3 as my multiplayer fix for the holidays so getting Battlefield (or COD) was never an option.

Now if it had a good single player, I might have picked it up, hopefully they learn for the next Battlefield.

you may actually be the only person buying BF3 for the sp. I wish they didn't even tack on a sp as all it's doing is bringing the scores down by .5 (really, it seems to be the only real complaint in the reviews I've read). BF is all about the mp, which is why I hope the servers are a lot more stable than BC2 (just to get an idea of how bad they are for me, I can't finish a game ever, it always kicks me out after 3.5 minutes, and apparently others have this problem).

Actually, if anyone has been playing online can you give any word on how the connection stability is?

I played Battlefield 3 for the campaign too. That was the most exciting thing I heard about the game was that it had a really good looking Single Player Campaign. And it turned out to be 5 hours and blew chunks. I am kind of lucky i never bought the game

I think the reason why the single player campaigns are short and bad compared to multiplayer is because... 1. MAJORITY OF GAMERS PLAY IT FOR MULTIPLAYER. Small percentage play it for the single player campaign. 2. BECAUSE OF REASON #1, DEVELOPERS PUT LOT MORE EFFORT IN MULTIPLAYER. Istead of putting lot of effort in campaign, they concentrate on the multiplayer a lot more so it would negatively effect the campaign. Maybe they put 75% effort in multiplayer and only 25% in campaign because they feel that gamers care lot more about multiplayer? 3. VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE A GREAT CAMPAIGN in these military shooters. I can see the developers have tough time making up a good storyline that last +10 hours without the stages and enemies feeling too repetitive. In a sci-fi shooter, the developers can make crazy storylines, endless imagination with stages, create enormous insane bosses, etc. Tough for military shooter to compete there because it is trying to be realistic.

this is probably how it went down. Afterall, nearly everybody was excited for the mp from BF3. Bad Company 2 had horrible characters and a passable sp, the mp is where that game's at so it only makes sense BF3 will be the same way. Now, if you're not a mp fan then this game shouldn't be bought.

Personally I think the single player is pretty good. It's not any shorter than any other FPS game out right now and I felt like my 5 hours were more entertaining than the others were. Not to mention the multiplayer is extremely sweet. I'll be keeping and playing mine for sometime and now it's up to MW3 to see if it's any better. ^Compared to BC2 it does have A LOT more scripted events which is the one thing I actually didn't like so much. Too many quick time button pressing events, which is something I think is getting old quick in games.

lol wow they really messed it up this time. its sad to see how the FPS cannot have a decent story mode. its all about the multiplayer these days huh...

now tell me this, after a few years you decide to check out the classic game that is BF3, their wont be any multiplayer online anymore and you will be stuck with a crappy story mode.
