I just broke my controller...

...while playing Resistance online. I got so mad at the cheaters that I threw my controller straight to the wall twice, making the L1 button jump out of it, and not satisfied, took it again and almost teared it into 2 pieces. Turned off the console, and hit my room light switch so hard it broke too. I'm feeling the biggest idiot in the world now and if this wasn't an internet forum, I wouldn't be telling you this.

I need to stop playing this game online.

Tossing a controller is really a pain in the a** compared to last gen, where all the controllers were wired... now a days the only limted is how far you can throw it.... :P :DFlemmingM

You don't need to stop playing games online.  You need to:

1. Realize that a lot of those "cheaters" aren't actually cheaters, they're just really good.  No need breaking your controller because someone's really good at attacking your weak point for massive damage.
   
2. If someone is cheating, (e.g. lagging out, clipping, etc.) then, as has been stated, report them.
3. Bear in mind that your anger just cost you fifty bucks.  If you have trouble keeping your anger in check, I'd recommend counseling, or keeping something a little less breakable within reaching distance.  I'd recommend a pillow or small child.  Just kidding, pillows may tear open, then you'll have feathers all over the place. :wink:
4. Seriously, though...calm down, man. :o  You could always just quit the game so it doesn't affect your stats.  Or shut down your PS3 so it doesn't affect your stats.  Or you could just stop worrying about your stats.
5. Have fun with your game, report bad users, and please, don't beat small children in your fits of anger.

You sure you broke the controller because of cheaters or you broke it because your no good at the game? I play Resistence all the time and haven't come across any cheaters.Mcortijo01

I agree with you, Also if there were any cheaters in the online game, wouldn't they be recognised and kicked of the server as in any other game?

No way.  When I go into rage mode - I mean real rage mode, not R2 rage mode - I'm a god damn slaughterhouse. :P 

I'm not a violent person and I always back up and try to talk things out calmly if I'm in a heat fight with someone, even if they're trying to physically injure me. Bursts of anger can happen to anyone if it's slowly building up through a lot of things. I had a really bad day at work so I took it out on my controller. I feel my lost, stupidity and, worst of all, the shame I will be when people find out I broke the light switch (still figuring out what excuse I will make up with that).

Perhaps I can look to the bright side, it was time for me to take a break from gaming, and do other things like study or hang out with friends. Well I can't play my PS3 now even if I wanted anyway.

I suggest purchasing a big fat bean bag chair.  It's comfortable, pets like to sleep on it, and it also serves as a bona-fide controller saver!.  Next time you get pissed at a game, chuck the controller at the bean bag, not the wall.  Works for me! :D

It sucks paying for a new one, but it feels good to show that controller who da man is for a second or two.

Games are pretty much supposed to push you to the limits of frustration, all of these clowns telling you "lol u need anger management" have broken controllers too. All that Zen stuff about taking a deep breath and "being reasonable" is a load. You are a human being, and sometimes you will break things. Even Yoda would have broken a controller or two if he'd played Devil May Cry.

As long as you have $50+ for another controller, you're good to go.

I've gotten angry while playing games, but not angry enough to destroy my $50+ controller.

I snapped a PS2 controller in half while playing Soul Calibur 3, they AI in that game is fricking cheap, i was only like 4 rounds in on hard and it was just pissing me off so much at how cheap the computer was that i snapped my controller in half.  I haven't broken a PS3 controller yet, but i'm sure its gonna happen.
