My PS3 about 3 months ago start being really noisy, and in the beginning it was so quiet. I thought it was because of the dust inside and i was right.

I went to an Office depot and bought a compressed air and clean my PS3 with it, you have no idea how much dust came out of my PS3, it was a LOT, i clean the HDMI port, the USBs ports and everything it took me like 30 min to clean it all.

And the result were notables my PS3 its much more quite and the fan works less, so the ones that were scared about cleaning they PS3 give it a try.

P.S: Sorry for the writing Im Mexican

Those are cans of compressed air to blow the dust out of your electronics, they cost just a couple of bucks.

It's just canned air and electronics cleaner (most of these if you hold the can upside down will disperse a liquid cleaner for electronics) It is very inexpensive (I think it's around $5.00 at any game or electronics store). As for cleaning the dust out that is a great way of getting the dust out along with using a vacuum cleaner.

It's called canned air, but unplug your PS3 before you use it. Moisture can come out of the can and you don't want it to fry your PS3. Also make sure when you use it to take your PS3 outside. Sometimes the dust can make your house hazy. Just a friendly fyi if you've never done this on electronics before.

dude do not open you PS3, you just have to start in the area that has the biggest holes (thats the part that the most dust will come out) the remove all the dust of the little squares on the PS3 you will see a lot of dust flying out of the console, but be carefully when the frozen stuff of the can come out you have to shake it well.

i would also like to add that you should NOT hold the can sideways or upside down while spraying....that's when the frozen stuff will come out

and you should wait a long time before turning your ps3 back on after doing this.....i would wait atleast a day

One thing not to do is blow them onto your skin for a prolonged period of time. I did it once. And it burnt like ice.

Though no doubt you'l go ahead and try it now...

I thought about doing this a while back but i was too afraid that something might happen so i didn't bother. I was thinking of doing the vacuum thing but i keep forgetting. Thanks

and you should wait a long time before turning your ps3 back on after doing this.....i would wait atleast a day

That's true about making sure the can is in the upright position but as far as waiting for the system to dry it really isn't necessary because the liquid cleaner dries in about 30 seconds. I have sprayed this stuff in electronics while there still on and it didn't cause a single problem. The liquid is not conductive and dries extremly fast.

[QUOTE="Shawtymann"]i was thinking about buying some compressed air. how exactly did you clean your PS3? Did you open it or just sprayed through the vents?Shawtymann

dont open it, just blow the ir into the vents :D, it`ll take a while but it will get clean :D

thanks.

i used my the hose on my vacuum to clean my PS3 before. it works ok. there was still dust caked up behind the vents in front of the system

I only uses the compressed air dude, i didn't open my PS3 i only clean it by the vents but it toke me a while to clean it cuz the dust didn't stop coming out, you clean a vent and the opposite part of the PS3 starts getting out the dust, and then you star cleaning the dust from there and start getting dust from the part that i start so it really needs some time and patience, but it worth it

so you started from the front of the system and it blew the dust threw the back vents?

sorry if i'm asking too many questions, I really want to know the best way to do it and i dont want all the dust behind the front vents to get stuck in the middle of the system

Well i start with the vents that are in the side of the HDMI port, with those big vents, a lot of dust start coming out of the console from there

One more thing, remember start with the side of the ports, then in the front, then in the bottom side, then in the top, and repeat the process like 3 times to get done it right, you need patience but it worth it

Can the fan test clean out the dust, too? You know, where you flip off the switch on the back, hold the eject button, flip the switch on (while holding the eject button), then wait until the fan turns on?
