Well, I just got off the phone with a Gamestop employee (a woman) and I was calling to ask if my UT3 and Orange box (that i reserved) had come in yet. After she checked for about 5 minutes, she came back and said that the Orange box would be in later today, and that Unreal was pushed back until May! I told her its out on PS3 now, but she kept insisting that it was delayed on PLAYSTATION 3. I even told her I have friends playing it online, but she kept (in a kind of rude, annoying voice) saying "no, it's delayed" Finally, after 10 minutes of this, I asked to talk to the manager, and he said they had 2 copies left. I was a victom of Gamestop stupidity. Freebird8877
but she was right... it has been delayed... on 360 HAAAAAAAA she got owned. nice sig by the way.
I had one of those moments yesterday when I went to Gamestop to buy some PSP games. I've been looking everywhere for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. The first 4 Gamestops I went do didn't have the game, but finally...I found the game at the 5th one I visited.
As I went to pay for the game the guy at the counter said to me, "Did you know they have Portable Ops Plus out now?"
I replied, "Yes, but Portable Ops Plus is basically an online only expansion pack to the original game. The single player is a training module called Infinity Mode. The original Portable Ops has an overarching Metal Gear Solid that expands on MGS3. I'm really glad you guys have this game."
His response, "No, you're wrong. The entire Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops game is included with Portable Ops Plus."
I asked him, "Oh really? Have you played the game?"
"No."
"Well...I actually did a little research before I went out shopping today, and you're wrong. So stop wasting my time."
I don't fault the guy for trying to sell the game to me, but I do fault him for feeding me false information. If he never played the game, then admit and move on.
I asked the other employee at the store if he had played either Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions, Disgaea, or Jeanne d'Arc. He replied no and apologized that he couldn't help. That is acceptable to me.
Do y'all think you're so cool whining about Gamestop employees? It seems like everyone does that on this board but y'all still go anyways. Instead of whining, how about not going to a Gamestop? I dunno why y'all go there anyways because stores like Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.sell stuff cheaper. Only time i ever go to Gamestop is to sell my old games. Anyways, like i said, if you don't like a business, just stop going.... hit them where it hurts.
Ok...I have some advice for you now...DON'T BUY FROM THERE! IF they are stupid and have crappy service then why do people keep supporting them? I don't get it?ScottEFresh
thats right!

Yeah I had a similar experience. I preordered Ratchet and the day before it came I got a call from Captain Quark on behalf of Gamestop saying they got it in. So the next day I called them before I left work to pick it up and they said they had it. When I walked in I asked for it and they said it was delayed. I said "Well I got a call last night saying it would be here, and I called 15 minutes ago and someone said it was here, so if it wasen't, that would be wierd" turns out it was behind some sort of sliding panel and they only had one copy back there. Afterwards I showed them that they had more copies on the walls. What a bunch of morons.

Do you work there? They whine because its funny, not because the just want to make gamestop look bad, they can do that themselves. Try buying a PC game from them, dear lord..

It's funny, yeah... but it is a pet peeve of mine when someone whines about something and keeps doing it knowing that they are not going to be satisfied. It's like say if someone went to a restaurant and got food poisoning, they keep going even though everytime they go, they get sick. Catch my drift?

It's not the same person creating all the posts.
The female manager at my local EB wanted to choke me with a Wii-chuk the first time walked in for a PS3 game after launch.emitsu97
haha
I agree Gamestop is filled with fanboys BUT they pay GARBAGE at that store. I got hired last year at a Gamestop last holiday season and they pay minimum wage ($5.25/hr in PA) and they dont even pay you via a paystub or direct deposit. They give you a debit card that you HAVE to use and every pay period it goes to that debit card. Its obviously designed for the high school employees who put money back into the store instead of saving. Plus discounts were pretty weak. All in all Gamestop isn't a very good place to work except the fact that you get to talk about video games and such while youre there. So dont expect the highest quality employees there, they're mostly high schoolers and the turnover rate is VERY high there. Best buy and Circuit city both pay more (around $7-8 / hr. in PA) so the service is a bit more professional, though dont expect very knowledgable game experts.
Mostly the only time i shop at gamestop is if I want a used game or if there is a gamestop exclusive special edition version of a game that I can't get anywhere else (ie. Mass effect, bioshock SEs). Otherwise i buy my games at best buy and rack up the rewards points. I'll be getting over 80 bucks back this holiday season from there... sweet.

Same reason people still support the 360 after it's died on them 3x. I dont get that either. I feel like I'm the only one who spites Microsoft for my 360 dieing on me twice.
Anyway, yeah that's a pretty bad gamestop story man, lol.
The only stupid moments I get from GameStop are when I have to remind them that once I pre-order a game it comes with a free gift. Sometimes they just say, "Uhhhhhhhh..............I'm, not sure! I don't think you get a gift for pre-odering this game."
Aghhhh! Morons!
I buy my games at Best Buy, which also they have stupid employess there too! There was this one time where I went to buy Resident Evil: UC on the date of the release and I didn't see it anywhere on the shelves. I ask for assistance from someone who works in that department and told him if that game was in stock. He just stood there next to me staring at the shelf and saying, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh..........................Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!? I don't see it!" I said, " Well duh!? I don't either." And he still continued to stare and look for it. He was about to tell me the game was not in stock at the store till I told him 3 times to check his inventory on the computer. After 5 minutes of playing stupid he checked the inventory and brought out the game and put copies on the shelf. And let me tell you that this was at 7 P.M. at night. Doesn't Best Buy always state on their ads there new release games arrive by 2 P.M.!?
Once again, aghhhhhhhhhhhh! Morons!
The Gamestop I go to has been great. The manager there bends over backwards. The girls there know their gaming better then some of the guys. I only buy my games there, exellent service.skelly7483
at my Gamestop the GIRLS bend over backwards :P
excellent service there
oh yeah one more thing, GUI

I did the same. After my 360 died for the third time I went to pick up a PS3. Dude at the Gamestop tried to convince me that the 40GB model did not have WiFi and I should buy the 80 GB. I had to argue with the dude till finally I told him to look at the box. IDIOT.

You make it sound like the 360 version was delayed because of technical difficulties. Not true... it was because of contractual agreements for timed exclusivity. It wasn't delayed per se, it's being withheld.Yeah, call any Gamestop and ask them if they have Eye of Judgment booster packs, and you'll universally be told "No." It's fun to go to the store and point them out to the employees. They're usually in the glass case next to the register.

That's not nice, to intentionally put someone in a situation and point out that they are wrong.

 Seriously.
To be honest guys, you can't expect much from employees that get paid minimum wage. How hard people work is generally based on how much they are paid. No one is going to go the extra mile for 5.25/hr....ryank285
The problem isn't just in what they don't do, it's also in what they do as well.

Believe me.... I've got better things to do than waste my time going to the mall simplyto tell someone they're a ding-dong.This happened when I was buying another game anyway and just happened to notice I'd been misled. i have a question. that $10 minimum you have to put down on a preorder. wel if you dont pick it up in 2 days or even cancle your preorder do they keep that $10+?BTBAM127They keep it on your "account". It's illegal for them to keep money without actually selling you something.

ahh i see.
The worst situation ever is when parents are involved and they choose to believe those bumbling idiots (or straight up liars - both are the same to me) instead of their children.
My worst experience with them was indirect and it happened a couple years back when my uncle got me a game for my birthday. He said he asked the guy at the store for a recommendation. The person at the store apparently said that this was "the best game out." This was the PS2 in fall 2002, and there were plenty of games out that were so much better than that game. I don't know about you guys, but it was one of the worst games I ever played considering someone highly recommended it.
The sad part is that at Gamestop's the problem is usually fanboyism, but elsewhere its just straight up ignorance so I think I'll take fanboyism instead of trying to explain to someone that Playstation is in fact on their 3rd console. lol
I will say though that lucky for me both my EB Games and Gamestop are filled with gamers and not fanboys. They still do the pressure into pre-order deal but they do it for whatever system I either just preordered for or bought a game for. One time when buying a PS3 game, the guy asked if I had a 360 but when I said no he just went on to suggest more PS3 games.
