so I just got the killzone 2 & mgs 4 bundle and killzone is amazing, the gameplay feels like a cutscene, even when you run it feels like your a dude carrying a backpack rather than moving like a robot, but got a few questions

1. When i checked my PS3 it said theres 62GB free out of 80GB (I think it says 80) but i thought i would at least get 72 gb or something since i know you use some space for internal ps3 stuff, so is there some stuff that i dont need like I dont know photos or videos that already came in the ps3 ? cuz i cant find anything to delete.

2Is it better to connect the PS3 power cable to the wall or to a surge protector ?

3. Are all games gonna have black bars on the sreen when you play in a SD TV ? or is it just some games like killzone and MGS ?

4. Also, is there a way to make the PS3 tell you when its too hot ? like a pop up message or something ?

thanks

1) First, did you start playing MGS4 yet? I ask that because that game "installs" just under 5GB of data under game > game data utility.

2) I personally suggest plugging it into a surge protector. Who wants to have their $400 piece of electronics fried by a random power surge?

3) It depends on the developer that made the game and how they designed it.

1) MGS4 downloads a lot of information onto your PS3 they is part of the cause.

2) Surge protector

3) I don't know about that one. My PS3 did not work on my SDTV

4) Just listen to the fan. You will hear it get really loud after a couple hours of gaming, and it also depends on the ventilation in the room and PS3.

Good job in choosing a PS3! :D

1) 80GB is cap. Upgrade to a 500GB. Search for a 500GB Internal 2.5" SATA Hard Drive on Amazo.com, and you can find one for like $100.

You can find a guide on how to upgrade here on GS.

2) I dont think it matters. I do wall.

3) I play on a SDTV and mine doesnt have black bars... or does it? :? For KZ2, I cant remember

4) If youre PS3 gets too hot, it will blink blue and green alternatively (I think) and automatically turn off. Dont worry though, Ive left mine on for like 18 hours and the fan didnt even turn on. If the fan turns on, just open a window or turn on the ac. Youll be fine

Enjoy :)

Get Uncharted 1 & 2!!!

Welcome to PS3 land xD, glad to hear PS3 has another fan

Now lets get to the answer

1 - Strange, check if there is some update you downloaded and didn't instal, those are usually big. Check also your saved files but 18 gb, thats too much if you don't have any video or music in it

2- I do the wall xD although protection is never too much but it anything happens to my PS3 i still have the warranty.

3 - What do you mean black bars on the screen, 16:9 resolution? Like movies, 1 bar on top 1 bar down? If thats the case, i think no, not all games run like that, maybe it's your configuration for SD TV

4 - Yes, when PS3 get too hot this warning message shows up "Warning: Your PlayStation 3 is too hot. Please shut down" that is written in some PS3 manual but that never happened to me

1. I'm pretty sure the space is taken up by MGS4 installs and the ps3 OS.

2. I'd say surge with a battery backup simply because it comes in handy and i got one for like $20 on sale at office depot. This way if the power goes off it won't shut off the ps3, you'll still have power for an hour (that's what my backup is with 4 D batteries) and plenty of time to save or wait for the power to come back.

3. Varies on mine i have no black bars but i play primarily on a 32" lcd 1080p.

4. Mine rarely gets too hot and as long as it's in a fairly open well ventilated space it should be fine.

no mGS4 uses 4 Gigs, as for the 80gb its ussually a round number more then likely it only had 76gb and a few gigs are already used for the OS among other stuff which should leave you with a bit over 60gb left. I only had 61gb for some reason when i first started up my ps3 and i didnt put **** on it.

Merc009

yes you can use a USB or External HDD to put Videos, pics etc on to it Just Make sure its FAT32 formatted and that you make 4 folders exact to the Ps3 Media folders which is Video, games, music etc...... Other wise the ps3 wont able to pick it up. You can change your avatar through your own folder or the preloaded avatars that you find online.

Merc009

of course, they can also see your current stats, what games you playing, most recent trophies you gained, how many overall trohphies you got, what lvl you are, your profile (if you have one) when your online and among other things,
