Wait, the more expensive 80gb doesn't have full BC, but the 60gb does? Moronic.

even though the BC for the 80GB is software based... i haven't heard any problems playing PS2 games. i say just keep the system you have now.

The 60 gig doesn't have 100% backwards compatibality. It only supports about 95% of PS2 games.

exactly.

TC, u rlooking for unnecessary features because u already have a ps2. u get 20 extra gigs and a game.

"I have a ps2 but it would sure be nice to have the full-BC with the ps3.." is a redundant desire. stick with the the 80gig.

i have a 60 gig, which i bought almost a year ago,but i play all of my ps2 games on my ps2.

Ive heard the 60gb is 95% bc and the 80gb is 85% bc. I say keep the 80 because its not that big a difference.

60 gigs cant really be found anymore, and the 60 gig and the 80 gig were the same price, you just get a bigger hdd with the 80 and slightly less BC with it

If you know what PS2 games you would likely want to play on your PS3 just search them off this link:

The 60GB was 97.5% BC.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a game that wouldn't be compatible with the 80GB's software emulated BC.

Why is 100% BC such a big deal. If you want to play PS2 games so bad, either use your PS2 if you have one, buy a PS2 (Since you have the games you should already have one), or wait for the firmware updates in the months to come that will improve BC.

My local Best Buy still has 60GBs left. They're a new store, not many people know it's even there.

People usually miss understand or go on a wild spree of their thoughs because they hear the 80 gig is Software based. Trust me, I have an 80 gig. It plays all my PS2 games perfectly. I have about 50 ps2 games.

I'm glad you're sticking with the 80gb. Hopefully you got the Motorstorm pack (same price, but free game). I have the 80gb and haven't had a problem playing any PS2 game yet. Its amazing how people are still refusing to buy a PS3 if its not the 60gb because of BC, when the 80gb version is better in almost every way and has BC thats only slightly worse than the 60gb. I don't even know of any games off the top of my head that don't work on the 80gb, so you're sticking with the right decision.

yup i got the motorstorm pack which also adds to my decision since the 80gb has 20gb more and comes with a game. Yea and i checked the BC list of the games i would play and they seem to work as good as the 60gb so I am more than pleased with the 80gig8)
