Okay, I finally gave in and bought a PSP a couple of days ago, but I haven't opened it yet (too busy with work). Is there anything I should know being a n00b and all? Does this new version of the PSP require a firmware update of any sort? Are there any known troubling issues that truly plague the system? Is the 1GB memory stick I bought with it enough for game saves (it'll only be game saves - no MP3's, pics or anything else for me)? Should I buy a travelers case for it and if so, which kind - hard or soft? I seek your advice, fellow gamers.

P.S. the two games I bought for it are: Hot Shots Gold Open Tee and MLB: The Show 08.

I just bought a PSP last month and i was the same :)

No firmware update is needed, it should be up to date.

1 gig is more than youll ever need for game save's, even if you change your mind you will have room for a good few songs and pictures if you want.

Sorry i dont know anything about protection cases, maybe someone else can help with that?

Hope i could be of help :) Also if you've ever played FFVII, make sure you get FFVII Crises Core

Be sure to buff out your PSP screen with a steel wool pad. This gives your PSP screen that nice mirror finish.

n yeah... FF Crisis Core rockz.... after that game, havent touched my psp for ages.. lolz...

I highly recommend thisLogitech case. I've had my PSP over two years and this case has been great for me. Really sturdy. As for games, there have been some good ones, but you need to be very picky with the PSP. I would start with FF7: Crisis Core, that's a great game. Some others that I liked are Lumines and Loco Roco. I haven't played it, but a lot of people also raved about God of War: Chains of Olympus.

i dont tink its good to keep it in a logitech case. Firstly because i purchase psp slim mainly because it is slim and 2ndly when if u accidentally drop it, the case doesnt even reduces the impact on the psp, it just goes down even harder.

i prefer the pouch type that comes wif the psp. afraid of scractches just put a psp screen protecter, in case it falls. The soft pouch can reduce the impact.

Thanks to everyone for their help and replies.

Now, I have a few games marked down that I want. One of them being GoW:CoO, but are there any other great games I should get? I'd like a soccer game, but I'm torn between Fifa 08 and PES 08. I'm not really into FF, so I doubt I'll check out Crisis Core. I'd like to get Metal Gear Solid: PO, but so far, I haven't found it. I've only found its sequel PO+.

EDIT: You think the soft case is better than the hard one for protection?

1. Good Choice. GOD OF WAR is a must get.

2. PES 2008 is waaaaayyyyyy better than FIFA 2008.

you should definitely buy some kind of case, maybe a logitech playarmor, or at least a plastic screen protector. i'd recomend both. and yes 1 gig is definitely more than enough, you can even go ahead and throw some downloadable games or something on there too.

I went to buy the Logitech PGP at Gamestop and the sales guy there told me that it's not a good fit for the PSP Slim. He said that it was made specifically for the original PSP and that the Slim version would rattle around a bit inside of it.

Is that true because I really need some sort of travel/protective case and if the PGP isn't for me, then what is?

I never tested it, but the Logitech fits my old PSP exactly right, it is a very close and tight fit with the console, so I bet the slim would move around inside a bit.

You should know that it wouldnt be a bad idea at all to throw sum videos on there becuz its not like your gonna have 500+ games to feel up that 1GB stick (NoTe:PSP has combined over 350+ games)

i got about 60 game saves on my PSP & it only took up about 45MB

All i know is after 6 months of having my PSP it was getting kinda boring even tho i spoiled/soiled myself with alotta games, BUT i solved that PSP depression by putting viral vids/docu/shows on my PSP

And free PSP themes are really nice little things to have to further customize your PSP & always update to the latest version
