The HDMI cable is secure, I've checked. Plus I think it would lose video too if it wasn't. This happens for every game Ive played, it goes off for a few minutes, then back on, then off again randomly. Sometimes the sound skips too, like a cd with a scratch on it, then if I quit and restart the game a few times, its fixed. I take care of this thing like its my kid. Any ideas?

Is the HDMI cable connected directly to your TV, or is it connected to a home theater receiver?

It's possible that it's an HDMI/HDCP handshake issue, though that is usually associated with interrrupted video and not audio.

Another possiblity is that your TV or receiver may be set to auto-detect whether the audio signal is digital or analog, and is having trouble keeping the selection type constant. Can you manually set the audio input type for the TV or receiver?

Another thing to try would be to connect a Playstation SCART (analog stereo) or TOSLINK (optical digital) connector for audio instead. You can still use HDMI for video, but the audio would go through the other cable. If you are using your TV's speakers and not a surround system, then you wouldn't really notice any loss in sound quality using those connectors for audio.

It's connected to the TV. I will check after work to see whether or not it can be set to just use the digital signal. Thanks for the suggestions, I wouldn't have though of any of those.
