I've been thinking about it and I've decided that I'm not buying physical copies anymore. Here's why:

1) I live in Europe and because of conversion rates I can save 40% on any game I purchase from a US psn account.

2) Almost every game on the PS4 has been available on day 1 so far.

3) It's more convenient.I can download my game at any time without waiting in line at a store.

There are absolutely no negatives for digital only in my case.I was reluctant before but now I'm ready to embrace the future.

What do you guys think ?

I have thought about it, but I like having a collection on display rather than saved on a hard drive. I guess I am old fashion.

But if you don't care about building a physical collection, than by all means digital is the way to go.

If you are someone who plays many different games at once, you may want to either reconsider or consider purchasing a larger hard drive for your console because with the size of games, you will run out of space eventually and have to remove old games. You can always redownload them again later, but it is something to be aware of.

I almost never replay games after I finish them so that shouldn't be a problem for me.The only thing which sucks is that I can't sale used games. But the fact that I save 40% on new game purchases makes up for it.

good luck but just remember at the end of the gen and when you switch it's more than likely you won't be able to keep your games and move over, and when you look back and think o i'd love to play that retro game alot of the games may be unplayable due to being digital or something goes horrible wrong and companies go bankrupt and you can't download half your games again to play because they've closed them servers down where the games were held.

This. I love my retro games and for this reason, will never go all-digital unless i have too.

Replay value isn't a consideration for me when buying games.I have 3 shelves full of 360 games that I've never touched since I finished them for the first time so... I also have all my PS2 and PS1 games in a storage space.I have never once thought about replaying them.Games are like movies to me.If you already know what's gonna happen next, why watch them a second time ? I just don't have any fun the second time around.

This is so true with me too. I always used to have the "I need a physical copy" mentality, but looking at all the disc games I bought and how many I actually play is crazy! Once I finish a game, 9 times out of 10 I won't play it again. There are a few exceptions to this rule, so for that reason I'll pick up the hard copy. Otherwise, digital is the way to go.

I only buy physical if I can get a really good deal that I can not get digital, or if its a particular series I collect, such as metal gear or gta. Otherwise I buy pretty much everything digital.

I went digital for all media I consume...

PSN for PS4 & Vita,
Steam for PC games,
Deezer for music,
Netflix for movies and series,
epub for books, cbr for comics and Manga Rocks for manga on my iPad.

I'm loving being completely clutter free.
No physical newspapers, magazines, books, comics, dvd's, blurays, games, cd's anymore.

You Muricans think you're the world. I love it hehe. Anyways on point, I have a cap of 100GB per month and a top download speed of 1mbps. Can I go all digital? Hell fvcking no! So that's why I'm sticking to physical copies. I also like trading in my games, lending them to mates and the such (but what's a whole different story).

I wish I could go all digital too, but until Australia gets unlimited uncapped internet, than I can't embrace "the future".

Good for you. To be honest, I prefer physical form just because you have ownership of it at all times and you always have that new game feeling or excitement when you buy it from a local retailer and putting into the disc drive. With digital, that new game feeling is not there. The only time I buy digital is if there is a massive cheap sale on the PSN store.

Good for you. If you want to go all digital then go for it.

I prefer physical disc media for my games. I only buy digital when there is no disc option.

Each to their own.

I'm in the "only buys digital if it's really cheap" boat. But it seems it's a cheaper option for you anyway, though I find it hard to imagine you can't find discs from any source that are cheaper than purchasing full priced digital. Anyway, I like having a physical collection, but there is some convenience to having games stored and ready to play on your system.

I am mostly digital. Most games I tend to purchase from the Playstation Store, but some games, such as Fallout 3 and Skyrim, I am forced to purchase a disc because they are not on PSN.

The only downfall for me is that since I live in a very small (and awful) little town called Springport MI, I have local internet since no other internet company supports the town and I cannot afford 3g/4g internet, and I get pathetic speeds despite having "High Speed" internet.

If they made digital games cheaper I would consider it more often. Shouldn't they be at least $5 cheaper or something to make up for no transportation, shipping, and actual cost of making the disc and case?

Also I really prefer to sell old games that I've played out. Makes my next game cheaper.

I like not having to get up to change discs for digital...but if you get bored of a game you can't sell it if you go digital. last gen i played hundreds of games because i bought and sold them.

pros: convenient purchasing, no physical media to get lost or damaged

cons: cant trade, lend or sell your games, some people prefer to have physical media

i dislike digital downloads. its just the industrys way of controlling the used market. they dont even give a discount for going digital

Sell it to whom? Once you buy a game, it pretty much becomes worthless once you open the package. In order for that to be profitable, I'd have to finish the game within a month's time. Most games take me longer to complete because of how little time I have to play every day. So, once I do beat it or get tired of it, the disc isn't worth much to a Gamestop and I'm less likely to find a private buyer, especially if it's not really a decent or high demand title to begin with.

I don't buy my games from Gamestop and don't wanna waste my time packaging games to send them into Amazon..

But yeah, the clutter thing is the biggest bonus for me. I don't need video games and DVDs all over my apartment.

You can go digital. I look down on you for it and think it's lame and shows you're not a collector or have true respect for games and nostalgia, but it's your choice.

You look down on us and think it's lame?? Bwahahahahaha!! Yeah, because you've never bought anything digital in your life, I'm sure. I guess you don't own a smartphone and have never downloaded an app on it, right? You've never downloaded music from the internet either, I bet. Or you've never bought DLC for your disk game, have you?

I think you're lame for dismissing digital games. They offer a convenience for some that physical copies lack. It has nothing to do with "true respect" for games, it simply offers an alternative to consumers. And the way things are heading, digital is going to become the future of gaming. So, go on "collecting" your physical titles to add to your nerdy nostalgic gaming collection. But, as for me, I will continue to enjoy my digital copy for what it is - a piece of entertainment that I can enjoy and delete when I'm done.

I have bought just one physical copy (Call of Duty: Ghosts and returned it about a week later) for my PS4. Every other game I've bought (Infamous:SS, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, MLB The Show, Watchdogs) has been digital. I like the ability ( at least now) of downloading a game and have it on my PS4 already and not having to go to Gamestop, Best Buy, or wherever to get it.

Look,I respect your passion and everything but not everyone gets a thrill out of collecting stuff.Like jasean79 said,it's a piece of entertainment which I can enjoy and delete once I'm done with it.I buy a game for its content and not for the piece of plastic that holds the content. As long as I can enjoy the content, there's no difference between digital and physical.Plus getting 40% off on brand new games is a pretty big incentive.Unless Sony gets a stick up their ass about allowing people from Europe to download US games,I don't think it's worth it to get disc anymore.

@mdk12345: Your mentality is warped, my friend. And I'm not offended in the least bit, I was simply calling you out on your ignorant reply about "looking down" on us because we game for reasons different than your own. Not everyone that games is a "collector" of disc games. Sure, there are those out there that will buy games every week just to have them, but this is a small percentage of the population, and even smaller is the percentage of that group that buys only disc games. If you don't believe me, take the website Steam for example. Over 75 million users buying digital games, and over 75% of PC based games are purchased as downloadable digital software.

So tell me again how buying a physical copy is advantageous to its digital counterpart??

40 percent off means nothing. I got most of my PS3 games for 5 bucks. Might as well just wait for the price to lower and then go physical. you can trade or sell them after you beat them.

I'm sorry, but what kind of gamer are you if you wait 3 years after a game is released to play it for $5 ? I could be looking down on YOU for this.I'm not though because I realize everyone has different preferences in doing things.

You do realize that most people that buy cell phone games are not true gamers right? And this is a Playstation section, not a PC Section.

You don't know how buying a physical copy is advantageous? You must be stupid!

Yes, I realize what section we are in and I 'm not talking about cellphone games. I used Steam as an example because it has relevance to the conversation. PC games are also available in a physical copy.

Interesting that you call me stupid when you yourself can't understand why someone would choose digital over disc. I clearly laid out my reasons, but your little brain just can't seem to process it. Instead, you resort to calling me names and looking down upon me. I feel sorry for you.

Oh so you're saying that you're right and I'm wrong when clearly people respect physical copies? You're not insulting me! You're insulting games!

I never said anything about right and wrong. Man, you really are having a hard time with this.
