Whatever happened to them? I love my PS3 just like all the systems i have owned over the last 15 years, and remember the time when people just enjoyed games for the game, not complaining about framerates and crap. I bet you could go back to some of your favorite games in the past and it had so many problems but you didnt care becuase it was fun, like Killzone awesome game more bugs than ever though. Everyone now just complains and whines about the dumbest things i find it rediculous at times. What i find even funnier is that most of the people that talk bad about a game never even played it before, does anyone else agree with me just miss when games did what they were meant to do which is entertain not create a friggin political debate like we are running for president or something.

agreed. Theres just too much pressure and publicity around games nowadays..I mean for every game that comes out and gets reviewed someone in the world is going to complain..I think thats apart of it. If we didnt have these kinds of ppl that review and critisize, it wouldnt really bea problem. But we need em..I do miss the days when you just played a game and didnt really think of anything else...

True, but I appreciate some of the stuff that we have now. It gives people the chance to improve, and it also gives us enough knowledge to decide whether a game is for us or not... In the old times, the only thing you have were magazines with a couple of pictures... and a lot of good games passed under the radar, more than now.

I completely agree.

But the only reason ppl complain because they want to play amazing games. No one wants errors in a game.

i totally agree with u..but the reason of all of this whining and complaining is the progress of the gaming word ,and with all ofthis technology and fast development of games people will always expect the best of the best ..but still they r just games for fun not for burning ur nerves.

The good old days of gaming are not really gone, it's all in how you look at it. I'm 24, and I know we are a gaming generation, and the generation after us likes to game and the generation after that, yup, likes to game it up. There are so many gamers out there now, and so many that are on the internet, gaming has changed. The good old days are not gone, just rearranged. My most recent game has been Uncharted. I finished the normal difficulty in 10 hours and plan on spending another 10-20 going through it again. Not because of the medals and bonuses, although, they are a small portion of my decision. But because the game is fun. It isn't mundane whatsoever. The pace is perfect, but so are the visuals. Don't get me wrong, I play on a nice system, so I can really take advantage of what Naughty Dawg wanted me to see, a graphically phenomenal game with a classy art-style. There isn't any multiplayer, and it didn't really need it. No online required to have fun with Uncharted. A co-op mode would have been the only multplayer I would have like to have seen. Take a page from Resident Evil 2 and have two seperate story lines for Nathan and Elena (?) that have many points of cross over (as they do in the game), but split screen for chapters where they are apart. But the fact remains that this game, as "new-school" as it is, is still absolutely fun to play. Challenging at times, Im sure I died 10 or 12 times through the game. A lot of fun but still kicks your butt once in a while. I believe that was what the "good old days of gaming" were all about. You don't have to be conditioned to thinking that all people do is complain/argue about graphics/systems/AI etc that is just a state of mind. The good old games are still around, you just have to look in the right place. Speaking of which, my roomie just picked up Assassin's creed, Kane & Lynch and I have Super Mario Galaxy to start now that Uncharted is wrapped. Adios

Sony has always been all about the graphics. They were marketing the Playstation while the SNES was still in diapers and the N64 was still just an afterthought. I would imagine that die hard Sony fans look for the newest and greatest technology and artwork in there games.

That is when the playstation was originally supposed to be the SNES disc drive. I remember that in Nintendo Power.

You just described me. I play games that I like, I dont care if they drop in frames or crap like that. If I enjoy the game I play it. If you check my games, you will see ton of low rated games, and I love them.

Games as Genji, KZ, Hack, Lair, Dynasty Warriors series, Megaman X series, etc.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that consoles and games are significantly more expensive than they used to be. In many cases, people can only afford to buy one console and several games a year. It's understandable to question whether or not you made the right decision in purchasing one console or game over another. People want to be sure they spent their money in the right way, which is why all of the nonsense on forums like this exists.

Yeah I agree. But sadly i've been converted by the always evil media and I worship clean graphics, a smooth framerate and a glitch-less game. It kills the fun factor for me if the graphics aren't as good as they should be. It's probably some type of OCD.

I miss the good old days of the N64/PS1 era. I feel like today's game industry has gone toward a different direction to gaming.

Its not about fun anymore its about perfection. They have gone a long way toward making games look good and innovative ,

but there isalmost noneof that fun and challenge factorin the current gen. I find myself Getting bored often on current games

even if they wow me.

Agree! Now we have people complaining about game length and framerates. They must not have been around for the nintendo and sega days when you able to be a game in 1hr-3hrs. I guess us older gamers appreciate games more than the up & comers.

I think reading too many reviews and threads has ruined the prespect of games for me... Like assassins creed and uncharted, I was looking forward to both, but then someone has to bring out some issue with both, making me second guess myself and never be able to fully enjoy it because of the flaws only magnified by critics.

Agreed. When i was 14-15 i just looked at the cover of the game and thought "this looks fun". I remember when i bought "Xgames pro boarder". it was really fun. But the reviews were crap. I dont read reviews anymore. I read about the game instead.

Well, some of us here have been gaming since the old days. I started 14 years ago with the NES (playing Mappy, Back Street Fighting, SM, SM3, Macross and Galaga). I enjoyed each and every console I had, though my only complain about consoles may come from durability. I can enjoy my game If Im worrying about the console all the time, specially since where I am there is no such thing as consumer support. Thats why for the moment I will restrain myself from getting a 360. Though I had one and had a blast with it, running as crazy in Dead Rising is priceless :P.

I still buy games from what I think about it. I could care less about reviews, there is proof enough of that in my games collection that I update here.

The problem is that most gamers today care about in games are graphics and online play and not the actual gameplay itself I mean PC owners were excited for Crysis because of the graphics and yet it was only an average fps game, and Xbox owners were excited for Halo 3 because of the Multiplayer and now people hate that game because it didn't have good singleplayer and plus the graphics suck. The best consoles that were good for singleplayer gameplay was the Playstation and N64 and the consoles after them became onlygraphics and online after that. Maybe thats why the wii is selling well since it doesn't focus on graphics and online but only gameplay unlike the Xbox360 and PS3 and I own a ps3.
