My parents have a Sony Bravia V series which really compliments the PS3, I like my XBR in the basement better but the XBRs are a little beyond that price range. Take a look at this
Hehehe, good thing I was looking for a TV also.
At Best Buy this week until Wednesday, they have a deal that if you buy this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+BRAVIA+/+52%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9223798.p?id=1218062425828&skuId=9223798&st=9223798&cp=1&lp=1
Then you will get a free PS3 at the same price for only $1499.98. It's on the back of the Best Buy ad this week. Here is also a review for the TV: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/sony-kdl-52v5100/4505-6482_7-33485094.html
You need to get at least 120HZ and in my opinion at least have a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Here is a TV I would really recommend if you spend a little more than $1500: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+52%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9401658.p?id=1218099252600&skuId=9401658&st=52%22%20lcd&cp=1&lp=1
OR just get a plasma which has around 600Hz and a better dynamic ratio for cheaper. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+50%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9290117.p?id=1218075402383&skuId=9290117Hehehe, good thing I was looking for a TV also.

If your PS3 is in a room with lots of windows and natural light that you can't control, then go for an LCD because Plasmas don't do well in bright lights. However, if you can control the light, Plasmas are a no brainer.
Gone are the days of ghosting and burn-in so you have nothing to worry about with that. Plasmas have much better picture qualityand much better specs for a lower price. 600Hz and .001ms response time on a 50" for about $1000. That's unheard of with LCDs.
Best Buy is having a Black Friday sale ... look for the Samsung 50" Widescreen 1080p Plasma HDTV - $897.99.
Actually I would like more suggestions guys, if I get a plasma are they good? And how do I take care of them?jesseCheechI'd say go with the 50" Samsung from Best Buy on Friday. Great quality and unbeatable price.
Plasmas are excellent picture quality wise, and while it's true that burn-in is no longer an issue, they really will shoot up your power bill... and according to a friend of mine who operates a TV repair shop, they are the most common television needing replacement parts with an average life span of about 3 years. :? raven_squadOh geez this makes me wish i woulda bought one! lol Seriously tho, I got a 40" bravia. Can't go wrong with Sony. I love it. I'd recommend a bravia for sure
lol oh snapWelcome to the Gamespot forums. But this belongs in the audio/video forum. They probably could help you alot more.

Now its way better then LCD. Or if you must get an LCD make sure it has that new LED tech in it.
So what plasmas would you recommend?jesseCheechPanasonic Viera is by far the easiest Plasma to recommend.
[QUOTE="jesseCheech"]So what plasmas would you recommend?raven_squadPanasonic Viera is by far the easiest Plasma to recommend. So it's pretty much the best one? Is it $1600 or under? How exactly do you take care of a plasma? Does it have to be away from ANY kind of sunlight? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure I get the right TV firt for me this time.
I started with a Sony XBR LCD when I got my PS3. Then I got a Pioneer plasma. lets just say, my XBR doesn't see much action anymore... ;)
But seriously, go with the Panasonic Viera, I know sears has the 54" S1 series right now for $1099.... 100,000 viewing hours for lifespan... great stuff... or the 54" G10 that is THX certified for its video quality, it will be $1499 on fri and sat.
GET A PLASMA ! :D
