I just got a PS3 a few weeks ago fro my birthday. The game that I got with it was R&C Future. I beat the game fairly quickly and played through challenge mode and did all the side quests. So now, I'm looking for a new game, however every game I look at in regards to reviews has a few things that turn me off. I was wondering if you guys could give me some recommendations based of the following criteria.

I want a strong offline experience. I'm not big into online deathmatch sort of stuff, so if I get a FPS, I want a game that has a decent length. I'd also like some replay value - I don't want to spend like $60 on a 15 hour experience with no reason to play it again. Also, if possible, I'd like if it had some sort of co-op/two player experienc - none of my friends have a PS3 yet, so I'd like to still be able to play a game with them on the same console.

Does this game exist?

Thanks.

You cant go wrong with Resistance Fall of Man. Resistance has a pretty good campaign and also co-op. The game also is fun to play online. If you want the best FPS, get COD4 which has probably one of the best online modes of all games.

As for a single player offline game, I'd highly recommend Uncharted. I'd also recommend Heavenly Sword but the game is a bit short (however I thought the story and motion capture more than made up for it). The Orange Box is also a great pickup if you don't mind the minor flaws (HL2/Ep1/Ep2 have minor framerate problems but doesn't detract much from the game; Portal is awesome and Team Fortress 2 is a pretty good online experience). As for co-op/multiplay, there isn't much. Army of Two is great when you have another person to play with, but singleplayer falls a bit short due to the bad AI of your partner and the story is a bit iffy. Resistance is a great launch title with splitscreen co-op (strangely enough, it doesn't have online co-op) and also has good online multiplayer. Haze is ok, but there are better fps games out there (although it has 4 player co-op). And of course you have Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Out of the two, Rock Band has a better co-op experience but Guitar Hero is more challenging.

Talking about Guitar Hero 3, there is a huge sale on the game today on Amazon as deal of the day. It is normally around 99 dollars but the deal is 60 bucks. A great deal.

i played through resistance 3x by myself and 2x more with a buddy in co op. you turn up the difficulty and youll be playing for awhile.

the best part of cod4 is the online multiplayer so if you dont like that, id pass

gta4 has a looong story and plenty of side missions to keep you busy, not fun for 2 people at 1 house tho

warhawk is online only but you can join games so that you and your buddy sitting next to you can both play

and i think i just figured out the perfect game for you! rockband, its made for 2 or more

I wouldn't recommend Resistance, it was my first game on the PS3 and it just didn't live up to my expectations. I would recommend either the Orange Box or maybe a sports game. COD4 is a fairly short single player experience, if you like the GTA series then pick up GTA IV. That is a game that will never get old.

I think its funny that you are touting a game that hasn't even come out yet as the only thing the PS3 has at the moment, regardless if it is good or not. At least recommend the TC a released game that is worthy of a buy.

Sounds like resistance fall of man is your cup of tea. But wait for it to drop to 29.99 becuase its sequal is coming out soon. It has lot s of replay value. Uncharted is lovely so is heavenly sword if you ask me.

Yeah. With your guys recommendations, I think Resistance will be the way I go. Do you think the price will drop soon, or will I have to wait 1/2 a year before R2 comes out? Have you guys ever bought a used game from eBay? I'm thinking about getting a copy for maybe $25 including shipping.

Prices are pretty low for Resistance right now, so it would probably be better to get a used copy at a retail store (better quality disc in general and you have the option of exchanging it for a certain period of time if the disc does happen to be messed up for most stores).

The price will drop, but probably won't happen until Sept/Oct. time. If you want to get an used one, i would recommend craiglist. If you can't find one there, you can try ebay.

Reistance sounds like the game you're looking for, the campaign is fairly long and has replay value because when you finish it you unlock new weapons that will be found if you replay it. Reistance is also quite old and you should be able to find it for 30$ either new or used.
Uncharted is a VERY fun game aswell but it's short, around 8h, has some replay value if you like to collect all treasures and medals.

Orange Box is a very very good deal, best FPS of all time (HL2), two of it's expansions and TF2 for multiplayer. Don't think there's any co-op though but you should get 25h or something from the SP in HL2+expanions for the first run through. I own it on PC so I don't know about the PS3 version but I've heard that it's quite buggy, maybe they've released some patch or something. If it works well it's a must have!

I tried looking at some of the big retailers and saw that at EBGames, for instance, a used copy is still 49.99. Gamestop is also quite expensive and GameFly does not have any for sale. That's why I was looking at places like Half.com, eBay, and Amazon Marketplace for them - I'd be saving $25, but I've never bought a used game before and I don't know if I need be fearful about it.

ive bought tons of games off ebay and if it doesnt work or dont get your game you can file a claim to paypal (and use paypal get an account its free) and get your money back if it doesnt work. I have bought about 10 games off ebay. NO PROBLEMS. if anyone tells you that they have gotten there money stolen buying stuff through paypal then they didnt file a claim and didnt know how.
