We are getting my son a PSP and we were wondering what games would be good for him. I dont want to ask him what he wants because he has no idea we are getting him a PSP.

He has a game-boy adn DH has a Xbox. He loves to play Fable, need for speed, sims, towny hawk adn he absolutly loves Grand left Auto, although he really is not supposed to play that one :)

Is there any game similar to GTA that isnt so violent? He like the game because he can drive wherever and not really race. if you know what that means LOL

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks so much

Ratchet and Clank, Daxter.

Midnight Club 3 is cool racing game, and you can also just drive around in the city, too. It's name is decieving, so don't get any ideas just because it says Midnight and Club. It is purely just cars, racing, and driving. and you can go into deep deep custimization of the cars. It is one of the best games I have played.

Now there's some good advice; BOTH GTAs and Killzone!! I just got a PSP and I love it and the advantages it has over the 'other' handheld. Each have their strength though which is why i now have both and the one of the 'other one's' strengths probably is more suitable games for pre-teens. What i'd suggest doing though is going to the psp review area and click on top games and then on all time and go down the reviews from the best on down and decide which you'd be ok with. Like someone said Daxter has to be a must have and if you got the new slim daxter pack you'd get that and a 1 GB memory stick included (199 for the pack) Burnout legends also is one to consider being the highest rated racer on this site and otheres as well i'm sure. Then alot depends what he likes ---Fifa 07 is 19.99 now on amazon and it gets high marks so if he likes soccer that might be one to get. Maybe also check out the reviews over on the IGN site for a second opinion. I like to also consider the downsides of even a high rated game to see if i can live with it. Midnight Club I've thought of getting especially because it's 14.99 (it may have gone up to 19. last day or so) on amazon but the downsides among them load times put me off. Other high rated games sometimes have complicated learning curves or where you have to really take time to create a persona and are not so pick up and play friendly...some people like that but it's good to consider if you're looking for a more pick up and play title.

Oh you're ok with GTA for a 10 year old!... sorry, forget pretty much everything i said except check the reviews i guess.

NO I DO NOT want to get him GTA at all. I mentioned how much he likes it so i could see if there were any other games similar to it without the violence in them. :)

Thanks fro the advice everyone! At least now I have something to go by when I go shopping. :)

Another question I noticed allot of PSP accessories.... any must haves?

sorry but when you said 'he absolutely loves GTA' it sounded like...you know he sort of absolutely loves it. Notice i wasn't judging though! It's a little tough though because alot of PSP titles can be a little gnarly and kids can grow up fast nowadays so it's hard to draw that line between peer presure and what you think is cool; ----A good accessory though may be the Hori brand screen protectors; about 6 bucks at Frys and other places. watch out for some other brands though they can get pretty scratched up and be basically worthless I'd stick with the Hori ones. headphones are nice to have. There's a game called DJmax portable 2 which is an import title. it's a music game so some may like it and some may not...I don't know if i'd recommend it depends on your son's taste in games overall. You could check out some reader reviews here and on the play Asia site. Great game though.

Id get him Burnout Legends. I got that for my 7 year old brother and he likes it so much he stopped playing his DS.

Id also check out Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. For RPG's get Gurumin, its very easy to learn and kid friendly (got a 8/10 here.)

As far as must have accesaries go I would recomend a USB cord. that will allow him to put music, videos(mp4), Wallpapers etc on it. Also any Demos you Believe Apropriete. Most games are rated so Avoid M ratings like the Plague and be carefull with T for Teen ratings.

Okok, you better be aware that buying GTA for a 10 year old is not appropriate... the game is rated mature for extreme violence, sexual themes, realistic blood and language...

Buy him Daxter, is a great game... if he likes soccer, get him Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. If he's more of an action kind of guy/kid, buy him syphon filter. The game is violent, but not AS violent as GTA. (I don't think any other game is)

The gamespot stealth case is a good buy. it hold 1 memory stick, 2 UMDs and is pretty sturdy.I've had it for almost 3 months now.

If he's 10, I would recommend using the parental control features, using which you can put in a 4-digit password to restrict games of any level you deem inappropriate.

i think the level for 10-year-olds is 5-6, but you may want to check up on that.

Thanks everyone! Dh went out and got him a kit that has the car charger/ screen saver cover/USB cord/ and a bunch of other stuff and he got him the midnight club that someone had mentioned. I am going out this week to buy him another game or two.

I know its probably a cheesy game but has anyone played "pinp my rdie"? He loves to watch that show so I wonder if he would liek the game?

greeneyedgirl76

here's the qoute from Gamespots revue

Pimp My Ride was shoddy enough as a console game, but the PSP version goes that extra mile and makes it completely unplayable.gamespot

it's the only game I have seen get a revue that low 1.7 out of ten. I would avoid that game even if it was only $5.00.
