HD-DVD has 30 studios supporting it. Blu-Ray has only 28.
The only thing blu-ray has over hd-dvd is the capacity.
Capacity wise Blu Ray holds more but honestly no studio is using this space at all. For example look at 300, they look exactly the same on both formats and on top of that HD-DVD has all those special features crammed onto one disc. Most movies out doesn't come close to the amount of bonus content on the 300 hd-dvd disc and that fit on a 30gb disc. And if your gonna make an argument on why it's better yet you have to ask why it's better than you sir have no reason to be arguing against something when you don't even know what the side your backing has or does. I understand you own a ps3 so your backing blu ray but at least find out why it's better if you really wanna make an argument. TM1

NOT so fast there. This guy is wrong about one thing.
First off, studiosARE using the space. Every Sony and Disney movie uses uncompressed 5.1 sound and some other studios use it sometimes. This sounds way better than Dolby or DTS. NOW before some nerd comes on here and starts talking about dolby true HD or DTS master, remember that you need a compatible player and receiver to play these and they are rare.uncompressed audiohowever is compatible with almost any HDMI receiver and any bluray player. NO HDDVD discs have uncompressed sound because it takes up too much space. HDDVD may look as good as Blurau, but it has a long way to go in the audio department.

Blu-Ray is better than HD-DVD because it holds more data (larger games, more music, more movie features , and more).Developers for the ps3 have said a million times that blu-ray is such a help for making large detailed lvls for games.Plus blu-ray is part sony and sony introduced cd and dvd so its going to be big.

Statistics are good to prove a point. But the formatneeds more than just the stats to be classified as "better". This thread is missing one important issue: Piracy (I come from the Philippines where pirated stuff ranging from apparels, movies, software andgames are everywhere).
Anyway, The format that gets pirated first is likely to lose the format war. This is because piracy produces lost revenue for the studios and what not. Hence, the format that can't be pirated will be supported by everyone in the long run.
I haven't seen any pirated materials for either yet. However, you can research on production info forhd-dvd andblu-ray to form an educated guess as to which format is less likely to be pirated.
