Lucky you - it's easy! With the PS3 turned off (ie switch on back on, but unit is powered off with red light showing on power indicator) just place your finger on the power button - the one on the unit. Keep the button pressed even after the unit powers on, and it should beep a few times (I'm not sure if this is universal - mine is the launch 60 gig model). The PS3 defaults to any available A/V connection and you can set it up the way you want it.

It also deletes your theme settings :( but that's no big deal since it's easy to re-do your theme.

Hope that helps!

Learned something new here. Thanks, man. I ran across this months back and finally realized I had the right cable. But for a while there, I was flipping out not sure how to get it to switch from HDMI to composite.

PS2 had that easy progressive switch on the back. These seems even better.

Thanks again.

Yea,,, I did not know that to while capturing some vid. I had to change it to SD. And even change the inputs for a junkie SD PC capture thingy. And when I tried to switch back. Same thing. So I had to re hook it, and watch it on my pc monitor. Count how many pushed I had to push and which way. I just had to get it to the video whatever settings screen. And then press down or something. And then X. But I had to do it without seeing it. And amazingly that worked.
